Does tea stain your teeth?

Any comments/experiences with the one? I am thinking about stopping drinking tea as I dont want my teeth to get any more stained. But will it make any difference I wonder? What do others think?
I drink 3 cups of tea a day. My others drinks are water. Period.

Yes, it does stain. Whether, if you stop, things will improve IDK. Some fruits and fruit juices are pretty bad too. I tried making smoothies with salad leaves, blueberries and a little lemon juice: had to stop within a couple of weeks. I think it's the acid+colour combination that's particularly bad.

I drink tea and coffee through a straw. I have very white teeth and get lots of compliments, even from the dentist who has said I have grade 1 white teeth! It takes some getting used to it but worth it in my opinion.

Yes it does stain. Te a and coffee is a big habit though. I get a headache if I do not have tea for a few days.

Problem with too much straw drinking is it exacerbates mouth wrinkles, we can't win 😅

usernother · 08/09/2024 15:00

Yes it does. I drink black tea and black coffee and my teeth are horrible.

I've got white teeth and I drink a cup of tea daily. I will have a coffee most days too. I think teeth are genetic as my brother has white teeth too and we both have the good gene from our Mother.

It does on my wonky lower teeth but I find an electric toothbrush helps and if it gets too bad a trip to the hygienist sorts it out.

Never heard of grade 1 white before. Most dentists use the vita shade guide so maybe you misheard A1 (B1 is actually whiter though)

ok thanks! Through a straw? Interesting!

Oh apologies! I have no idea the exact terminology and didn’t take notes during my appointment, but I’m sure OP understood what I meant.
