Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just having my first cuppa of the day, with dd1 🤯 She's even fed the kittens, and she made the cups of tea! They're now trying to get in something they shouldn't 🙄

We're off to a gig tonight & taking her best friend who's never been to a gig before. We're leaving around 3pm so this morning will be my self-care Sunday everything shower then a steady potter round getting ready & a bit of housework.

Her friend's coming round at about mid day so they can sort their outfits. We'll head to Wagamamas to eat beforehand then walk to the venue.

Dd2's staying here with her dad. They're either going out to eat (dd2 will say no - she always does), or more likely ordering takeaway.

When we get in, it'll be quick cuppa then bed ready for the 6am alarms 💤💤💤 I can feel tomorrow's tired already <yawn>

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning all. I'm laid up in bed pretty much unable to move since pulling my back yesterday. Think this is the worst pain I've ever experienced including labour and smashing my wrist into a zillion bits.

My friends husband is shortly bringing me some Diazepam he had left over from when he did his back. I hate taking any sort of drugs or medicine usually but at this point I'm willing to try anything as 111 just said either go to a and e (can't as can't really move-crawled to toilet earlier and that made me cry ), or wait for GP to open tomorrow.

Dh will be back from taking step kids to football at about 3. Dd1 is taking care of our new puppy whilst I'm out of action. Dd2 is at work.

So not really a Sunday Fun-day for me! Hope everyone else has a great day x

piscofrisco · 08/09/2024 12:12

@Topsy44 are you in the south east? We had a storm in the night the likes of which I've never seen-half an hour and it was gone, but the winds were immense, thunder, lightning and huge hail stones!

piscofrisco · 08/09/2024 12:13

Sorry for your loss @TheChippendenSpook

LaSorciereEfrontee · 08/09/2024 12:14

TheChippendenSpook So sorry to hear that. Do take care of yourself ❤️

It’s a quiet day here. A friend stayed over last night and has just gone home.

DD15 took herself to church and back. I think she’s studying now. DH took our dogs and our friend’s dog for a long run, DS went too. DS now watching the One Piece anime they’ve just put on iplayer. DH is in the attic, hoovering up the mouse poo before all the suitcases and camping gear gets put back up after a very busy summer.

As for me, I’m going to get DS school stuff ready and try to wrangle some homework out of him (he’s 13 with adhd.) Then we will head across the road to the yearly village picnic. After that, it’ll be laundry, a supermarket shop and getting ready for tomorrow.

We have our first venison roast of the year, which I’ll do with garlic hispi cabbage and green beans, and dauphinoise potatoes. Plum and coconut cake in front of Sunday evening TV (we are loving Kaos) before an early night.

thrifty24 · 08/09/2024 12:15

I have a day and evening to myself so currently sat on couch watching cooking programme enjoying my cuppa but no idea what to do. Considering a hop over to Edinburgh for a change of scene, browse round the shops

Neverheather · 08/09/2024 12:18

@piscofrisco I was in absolute agony with my back one Sunday a few weeks so I sympathise. I'm someone who won't even take a paracetamol unless absolutely necessary but I was so desperate I took one of my husband's Diazapam and the relief I felt was immense, I suddenly realised all the pain had gone. Hope you feel better soon!

mybraindoesntwork · 08/09/2024 12:20

Mainly looking out the window at the bloody rain that's been persistent for three days where I am.

After walking the dogs in it this morning I've decided to go out for a nice Sunday roast to break up the day! Hoping for roast lamb, and a nice homemade pudding, that I'll snooze off this afternoon. Hopefully it is drying up for the evening dog walk...

Ooh love going to gigs. Who you going to see? 🙂

CatLady93 · 08/09/2024 12:23

As the mother of a 20 month old, these anecdotes of laying in bed with a kindle and a cuppa are giving me LIFE! I adore this age, it's gorgeous, but my word a lay down with my kindle sounds really bloody nice 😂

Soccermumamir · 08/09/2024 12:24

Morning all.
Both ds1 and ds2 had football matches this morning. Popped to the uniform shop as they finally had ds2's PE top for school, so picked that up. On my 2nd load of washing, then it will be showers all round ready for another chaotic week of school and work 🤣 Blimey, the weekends go so quick

Peridot1 · 08/09/2024 12:25

@TheChippendenSpook - I’m sorry for your loss. It’s never an easy thing to come to terms with.

Im full of a cold today so feeling like a lazy day again. I have nipped out to get carrots for the dog as we were out and she loves a carrot after her tea. 🙄

It’s sunny here finally but everything is wet as we have had so much rain in the last few days. Hoping to manage a bit of time in the garden with my book later if the sodding rain stays away.

I might summon up the energy to clean out our new units/cupboards which were built in our dining area so I can start putting things away. Or I might not.

Steak for dinner with roast potatoes, mushrooms, onions, pepper sauce and peas. And wine.

lucysmam · 08/09/2024 12:27

@Soccermumamir VenusGrrls at Yellow Arch in Sheffield. Dd1 found them one evening & appeared at the side of me with "listen to these Mum, you'll like them", as she quite often does. Bargain tickets - just over a tenner each 😊

I'm going against the "think Halloween" instruction the girls have given me for my outfit...wearing my pink cargos for the gig & shopping dd1's wardrobe for some sort of top. Friend hasn't arrived yet...hopefully she's here in time for the diy-ing they wanted to do 🤷‍♀️

@TheChippendenSpook so sorry about your Mum 💐

@leighks123 have a fabulous day 🎉

I'm still lounging around in PJs after a few nights of hormonal insomnia. I've moved our clothes airers out to the patio to try get the school clothes dry but have had to move them back in because of the misty rain. DH took dd to her match and is doing some shopping, 19 yo DS is still to emerge from his room and the 11 yo is playing his Xbox. I might run into town later to have a look at laptops for older one starting university on Wednesday.

rockingbird · 08/09/2024 12:35

I've managed to have a nice soak in the bath, now dressed and feeling more motivated than yesterday 😆 I've booked a tip run, I'm emptying the boot of the car which currently contains all the camping gear.. that needs to go into the garage in order for me to do the tip run!! Wish me luck.. might take the teens bowling later to get them out the house!

WithIcePlease · 08/09/2024 12:37

Still in pj's as didn't get to sleep until 3am after a late return from holiday.

I'm going to see a women's league football match at the ground I have a season ticket for. 2pm ko. Im excited to see them and pleased to be able to support them at local ground as usually their matches are a distance away.

Roast dinner later

Elderflower14 · 08/09/2024 12:48

I worked 6.30 till 9.30am. Had a shower when I got home. Mum cooked hot ham and parsley sauce for lunch with brocolli and new potatoes. Orange jelly and segments and double cream for pudding ... Have attached some photos of my 🌻... ♥ ♥

Hello all,
We went to church this morning and I am now sat in a pub garden with ds1 waiting for a family member to arrive for us to have Sunday lunch. When I get home ds1 needs to do some school work and I'll do some housework and do a couple of work bits for tomorrow. Then it's the usual Sunday routine of uniforms ironed, baths and bed.

Notimeforaname · 08/09/2024 12:57

Still sitting in bed! Landed home from a 2 week holiday at 2am.
Didn't get to sleep til 6am this morning then forced ourselves to wake up by 11. We did it but still sitting in bed like zombies taking turns going down for tea.
He may venture down to makes eggs and toast soon.
Thank fuck we have tomorrow off work and not back til Tuesday.

I only discovered Lye Cross farm Cheddar whilst in Greece 🤣 So I brought a block home and am salivating thinking of it.

Brought home lots of crisps too that we cant get here.

Im going to eat utter crap for the entire day.

@Elderflower14
Your sunflowers are glorious!!

TheChippendenSpook · 08/09/2024 11:22

Good morning. I hope you all have a lovely day.

I'm in bed as the weather is rubbish and I've been ill. My mum died suddenly last week as well so I'm just relaxing and coming to terms with things really.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Do look after yourself. Flowers

TheChippendenSpook · 08/09/2024 13:54

Thank you so much everyone, I didn't mean to derail the thread Flowers

It sounds like everyone has really good days planned.

@lucysmam I love your threads. There is something quite comforting about knowing that everyone is just getting on with their every day lives.

The world of social media makes you think that everyday should be filled with wonder and excitement, but there is a lot to be said for quiet contentment.

MillionaireCaramel · 08/09/2024 13:57

Afternoon all. It's sunny here for once, it's very unusual for Scotland to have the best of the weather but it seems from this thread that we do. I took the big crazy labrador out for a long walk this morning, he loved every second of it. Had lunch, going to tidy up a bit and then sit in the garden with a nice cider. Sausages, mash and Yorkshire puddings for tea with lots of gravy. I love days like this and hearing about all your days.

ProvincialLady2024 · 08/09/2024 14:12

Hello. Term time Sunday here. Washing uniform, cooking a roast, taking DC to sports. Looking forward to a cosy evening before a busy week ahead.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 09/09/2024 02:54

Good next day morning! We didn’t have internet for over 18 hours , it came back on at midnight 🤬, hence ridiculously late post.
I made a lovely beef casserole for dinner, with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, homegrown beans and sugar snap peas. Apple pie for pud.
The dog had a wandering, sniffy walk in the afternoon, the weather was mixed but mainly damp - an improvement on Friday when we had torrential rain and thunderstorms.
I’m hoping we see some sunshine this week, it’s early for autumn to really kick in but the leaves are turning on the trees in the woods behind us and they’re starting to fall.
