Hi, this household has all been feeling poorly with a rotten cold/flu? Started with my husband, then me and toddler 2 and now baby has a temp.

My toddler's symptoms were high temp but of a cough, coming down with Calpol. My symptoms were sore throat, then runny nose, phlegm, blocked ears and now this evening shivers but really hot.

I thought I'd check babys temp too just in case and it was at 38.8 at 11pm. Gave him Calpol at 11.05pm and waiting for it to kick in.

Should I keep an eye on baby checking temp comes down or do I need A&E regardless?

I'm exhausted since having been up since 4am due to toddler waking and not going back to sleep early hours of this morning

Give nurofen too as well as calpol it will help bring it down better. See if you can manage at home first

I'd keep an eye on the temperature. If it doesn't come down with Calpol give ibuprofen instead (my babies temperature only ever comes down with ibuprofen!). If the temperature goes into the 39s I'd ring 111 and see what they say.
If the baby seems ok in themselves, wet nappies, feeding, responsive etc then the temperature alone isn't a concern.

Nurofen/ibuprofen isn’t meant to be used until 3 months.
Call 111 for advice - I know you are totally knackered OP, but the advice is always medical professionals would rather see a baby than not when they are this small, as the margin for them going downhill is very small.

Have they had their first lot of immunisations? If not, it's usually recommended A&E immediately, if they have, I'd ring 111 as fevers in children that young are assessed differently due to higher risk of being immune compromised due to age, regardless of other symptoms or lack of them

Yes had first lot of jabs at 8 weeks

You should call 111 really for a temp over 38C in a 10 week old baby
