Neighbours and their trampoline

The neighbours next door are a massive family and are only renting. They've lived there 4 years. We live in a terraced road and I live with my mum only. (Mum owns our house, but next door rent it out) - hence this big family there now. We dread the summer as they're so loud; in fact, they're the loudest in the entire road!

We recently spent a small fortune on a fence (it is our responsibility as per the deeds). It was expensive and something mum and I saved for. However, next door's tenants have a trampoline right up against one of our fence panels that moves back and forth when their kids are jumping on it. They're not the most approachable of people, but somehow we managed to see them and told them politely that we don't want to spoil their kids fun, but could they move their trampoline just a little away from our fence as they're pricey to replace and it was continually moving. This was agreed and they moved it about half a metre! However, they went on holiday for a few weeks, came back and the trampoline has worked it's way back up against one of our fence panels again, and again, the panel is moving to the jumps of when the trampoline is in use by their kids again.

Any ideas what we should do? It's only me and mum against them all. Thank you.

You must have spoken to them when the fence was installed?

Or were the fencing company forced to only stand on your side to fit the fence? That must have been tough.

And if you did speak to them about the fence, you've approached them about it at least twice now. So I don't see the hardship?

"Hi neighbours, remember when the workers were fitting the fence? Yeah can you pull your trampoline back a bit? I could stain your side if you like when I do my side?" Etc etc.

I think the rent comments might be more that they won't pay for any damage as they think its not their house, not their problem. It would be more clear cut if they owned.

That's one inference. Another could be that OP thinks all renters are sent from hell. Whatever the meaning, it adds precisely no value to the story, as PPs have mentioned.

People don't name change just to trick people ffs. They often name change for a different thread and don't change it back when returning to an older thread

At least she owned both usernames and wasn't renting them.

We don't know who the landlord is. Looks like I'll have to ask them again.

Even if you did know who the landlord was, what would you do?
Surely the quickest, easiest solution is to ask them if they can move the trampoline off the fence again. Why the '!' after half a meter? What were you expecting?

Why does the family size matter?

You lost me at "only renting"

Can't bear snobbery.

It relevant as they won't have to fork out dow anything, it will be down to their landlord.

The ops mother as homeowner does have to pay for repairs and fencing.

No, any damage caused by the tenants will have to be repaired at the tenants expense. Do you think that tenants get to trash the property and the landlord just pays the bill?
