Short-sighted swimmers - please share your tips!

I feel a bit daft asking this, but - if you’re very short-sighted and swim a lot, what do you do?

I leave my contact lenses in and rely on my goggles to keep the water away from them. But I do worry that I’m risking picking up that horrific-sounding infection related to swimming with lenses in.

Years ago, I wore prescription goggles but found getting to and from the changing room, showering etc without my glasses a bit hairy!

What do other people do? Do you leave your glasses on the side of the pool? Am I missing an obvious solution?

I am very short sighted (-9). I wear glasses to walk to a lane then leave them right next to the edge on something safe. Swap for prescription goggles - Decathlon are great, only go up to -6 but that's enough so I can see a bit!

I have an astigmatism and am -4.0 and -4.5. l just bought -4.0 goggles and they are fine for the pool and navigating the changing room. I obviously don't drive with them or wear them all day, so for me, they don't cause any problems/headaches. They were £30 or maybe even less than that and I swim for leisure/general fitness.

I just need to be able to see the clock, read any instructions/lane marking signs and spot the kids. None of which needs to be perfectly in focus, just good enough for an hour or so.

Im guessing you cant get them for astigmatism correction too?

I'm not sure, my astigmatism is very mild and doesn't bother me (I don't have toric contact lenses as I tried them and found they didn't make any difference).

It's prescription goggles from changing room door to changing room door. I don't feel safe if I can't see especially in a place I'm not familiar with. The last pair I had I left somewhere, this time I have £20 ones from Asda just in case I leave them somewhere again.

I’m returning the cheap(ish) ones I got from Amazon - the nose piece was really uncomfortable, hard plastic that dug into my poor schnozz.

I have astigmatism and my goggles are fine - they stop me walking into doors/swimming into people/the side of the pool which is the main aim.

I got mine off Ali express but you can't return things easily on there so may be too risky but mine were exceptionally cheap so I was prepared to risk it.
