Quick advice about overseas accommodation with no fire safety/precautions

We have checked in to a booking.com property in Italy which consists of separate 4 rooms/units in a larger building. There are no fire safety measures at all; no fire escape/plan/route, no alarm or sprinklers or fire extinguishers. I am probably overthinking but I feel a bit unsafe. Have messaged the owner and booking.com customer service but no response. Would you stay here? Is there anything we are overlooking? Are we overreacting?

Have you googled what the rules are in Italy? Can you visit a tourist information office tomorrow where they may be able to help confirm the requirements? If it turns out it isn't legal you've grounds for moving somewhere else and this would be a reason booking.com should refund you for the rest of the stay.

I'd get some cheap smoke detectors. At least half of all fire deaths in most countries involve non-working or absent alarms.

I will make different decisions if DD isn't travelling with me. But if she's there, smoke detectors.

The accommodation has to have a registration number which is displayed - the article I've linked to suggests not all regions will have this fully implemented.

There should be detection equipment strategically placed - e.g. carbon monoxide detector for gas appliances

There should be portable extinguishers in the property
