Sitting here in my office at work with identical symptoms. Have told colleagues i am feeling a bit rough and probably best to leave me to my work.

I have a cold and i will be over it in next day or so. Get over it unless you have some underlying issues which are complicated by a cold.

When I had Covid 3 weeks ago I was that poorly I couldnt get out of bed for 3 days and had diarrhea (new strain sympton) for 5 days.

My question was ... surely you cant catch it again within 3 weeks

You probably have caught a "cold", not helped by being run down from COVID. Lots of colds and other viruses going round too. I have had a sore throat, runny nose, headache, post nasal drip, aching bones for weeks. However, mine gets better with Benedryl, so for me it is an allergy, probably coupled with age! Never have a temp though.

I don’t test but I once had a chain virus. Reckon one may have been covid and the second a cold, or the other way round. Either way not nice.

I think it’s called Rebound Covid, happened to me too. I was negative for a week and beginning to feel human again when it came back. There was no possibility of having caught it again in my case.

From this NHS page I got the impression it can take up to twelve weeks to fully recover from Covid https://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/health-information/coronavirus-covid-19-recovery so that’s helpful to keep in mind.

Unfortunately, yes you can get covid again within weeks.

Especially when there are lots of variants floating around (inevitable, when there are no mitigations in place and it runs free in a large population). It's still fairy uncommon for there to be a very short interval, but if we keep providing optimal conditions for new variants to emerge, we'll probably see more. specially as covid dampens immune response for weeks/months after acute infection even mild ones, leaving you more susceptible to repeat infections and other contagious diseases

If you want to step off the covid merry-go-round (because you can't afford to keep taking sick leave, and/or you don't want to risk long covid, and/or you just don't want to feel that shitty that often and be left at greater risk of other infectious diseases in the aftermath), then I suggest you wear a mask when in close quarters with strangers (eg on public transport), improve ventilation/filtration where you can, and lobby for better ventilation/filtration in public buildings.

LolaJ87 · 06/09/2024 11:13

Yes, I had it in both June and July. My June one was mild, my July one was awful. Just over 4 weeks between them, it left me incredibly run down.

Mask wearing from now on
