Driving Licence / medical issue

I’m not quite sure what to do here.
I am in the middle of being investigated for epilepsy- tests so far are normal, but I was advised not to drive. I actually sold my car as I barely used it anyway and didn’t want to be ‘tempted’. I was going to wait for diagnosis to inform dvla as I was off the road anyway so have my licence still. It’s good for ID sometimes too.
Now my licence is up for renewal this month - still no full diagnosis as waiting for further test results. My thinking is to just voluntarily give up my licence and reapply once I get a proper diagnosis/on meds etc. Doing the medical form won’t make sense as I can’t specifically say yes I have epilepsy as I don’t know what kind etc (it’s pretty detailed, I looked online).
Anyone been in similar position? If so wdyd?

Just renew your licence - you don't have a diagnosis and may not get one anyway.
If and when you do get a diagnosis you can inform DVLA at that time x
Doing it this way will be far easier than relinquishing it and then trying to get it back at a later stage when you may not even get the diagnosis etc.
Good luck with the further tests xx

Sorry meant to add I was in a similar position a couple of years ago and was told not to give up my driving licence or inform anyone until I had a confirmed diagnosis - and thankfully although I got sorted it wasn't the worst case scenario so I didn't need to inform DVLA x

The most important thing is that you do not drive! Plenty of people still have their actual licence as they are good for id. Yes you should inform them once diagnosed but the important thing you have already done, you aren't driving

If you have only had one seizure, or multiple seizures but all within a 24 hour period, you do not have to surrender your licence. At least, those were the DVLA rules 5 years ago. My son had 2 seizures in the same day, but then another 6 weeks later (before dignosis) so he surrendered his licence. Re-applied after a year seizure free.

Renew and just don't drive for now.
I had a similar scenario and just didn't drive. I was warned that it can take ages to get your licence back if you surrender it! I didn't drive until I was cleared, and also felt safe to do so (not epilepsy but a condition that causes severe dizziness)

If it is epilepsy then you can usually drive once seizure free for a year (my DD had this)

Thanks all. Yes I’ve read all the online info,
I’ve had a few incidents over the past few years but only one blackout, about 9 months ago (which triggered the investigations) but there was quite a lead-up to actually losing consciousness if that makes sense.
