Desogestrel - are condoms still needed?🤔

Just curious, I’ve just started taking the mini pill after a few “false starts” (mainly me being super cautious and not knowing whether to start taking it due to the usual horror stories online)…but as I’m still super new to it, I wanted to know how it all works in terms of intimacy…like, would your partner still need condoms to avoid pregnancy? Or would you only need condoms in fertile days whilst taking the mini pill? But then again I’m just so confused because if the most common side effect is not having periods then technically you wouldn’t even know when you’re ovulating right? Or you wouldn’t even be ovulating to have no periods? So then how would you track your cycle to actively know when to not use a condom? So wouldn’t you technically be scared of falling pregnant and be doing multiple pregnancy tests a month? And if your partner didn’t use a condom would you have a risk of pregnancy?😅😂😂😭😭 omg this is sooo confusing send helpppp

It works like the regular pill or a coil etc does, if you're taking it then there is a tiny but technically not zero chance you could get pregnant. 99% effective I think.
You can absolutely double up with condoms if you want to go belt and braces but you are on a form of contraception there that is close to 100% effective.
As someone who very actively doesn't want kids, I do take cheap pregnancy tests every month or so when I'm sexually active but I do so knowing the risk that I am is very low. Its just something that I personally find reassuring.
Please talk to your doctor if you don't understand the medication you're on. You should be fully aware of what you are taking, why you are taking it and and risks or side effects.
