LG or Samsung TV?

Looking at getting a new TV. At the moment we've got a really old tv and most of the time watch BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channels 4-5, sometimes NOW TV. I can see us watching ITVX and wanting catch up. It'll be low end cost wise.

Think we've got it down to an LG or Samsung TV. Can anyone recommend either. Also, are there any hidden features you think we might find useful in time.Plan to get a 43" and will be sat approx 1.5-2m away.

Went with my Mum to chose a new TV last week. The chap who'd checked her aerial recommended LG to her as he and his mother had one. Also, from the chap in the shop said he felt the sound was slightly better with LG.

I can't comment on features as my Mum only views five channels and we've got an old TV as well so wouldn't know what might be good to have.

I have LG TV it's 15 years old and still going strong my son now has it in his room. I bought another LG but bigger screen.

I have a LG TV, it has lasted for 15 years so far! We use a virgin box for extra channels

I’ve always had LG tvs and they’ve always been good. I bought 2 couple months back (house move) and they are Hisense, was a bit unsure going away from LG but they are also really good, picture looks amazing on them

One of each here too. LG is newer and I prefer it and the picture is much clearer

I would be interested in what apps are available when you switch over to digital programmes. Has it got Bbc1Player, itvX,Netflix, Amazon Prime 5 and more 4 etc. also where are the HDMis which allow you to attach other things like a recorder if you wish. Then there is one for a fire stick should you want more programme appa. Also has it goy inbuilt Freeview or Freesat. It is possible that you still have a freeview box which that won’t needed. We have Sony Bravia but the LG or Samsung will be fine.

I have found to have had more luck with Samsung. They are becoming somewhat more expensive than LG. I also know that the larger the model of TV the bigger of chance you have a blowing your power board and that's for any brand. I am currently in the process of replacing a power board on a 60 inch Samsung. That's how I make extra money among other things. LG is a good TV. I have one and it does work well but I have known friends in the past who have had bad luck with them especially if they were bought from a large chain retailer.. I have three two samsungs, one Panasonic and one LG. I have a model in my basement that I'm not even sure what it is but it still works I do know that. I also have two samsungs and one LG that are in my repair shop currently.. In any case do stay away from Vizio. I won't even work on them for friends. I just tell them to go buy a new TV.. I really hope this helps.

We are big fans of Samsungs in our house, and own several.I find the controls very intuitive to use.
