Dyson hair dryer any good?

I have very thick hair and 2 young daughters with long thick hair and we had a mock Dyson type hairdryer which dries a lot quicker than my old hairdryer.
The mock Dyson started smoking and is now in the bin. I bought it second hand so maybe it was old.
I have been looking at new genuine Dyson hairdryers and they are pretty expensive for what i'd usually pay but if it was worth the money and dries all our hair quicker I'd invest.
Does anyone have one and would they recommend it or is there a better one on the market that you'd recommend?

I have one and found it great for drying my daughter's thick hair very quickly. I also have very thick hair and it's good for me.

I do think it's worth it for the time savings alone.

In the winter she can always go to bed with dry hair and that helps her not get sick.

That's good to hear.

My children bought me one for a special birthday, it's great. I've got thick hair and it dries really well and doesn't seem to cause any heat stress or damage.

My hair is not thicker than average and I was bought it as a gift. I notice it’s quick to dry my hair compared to other hair dryers but I’m not sure it’s worth the money.

that said mine has been running perfectly for 6 years now and so I suppose price per use would make it seem quite reasonable!!!

I was sold on mine initially, all the usual reasons of drying time decreased and reduced volume. However I also find it knots my hair and made it straw like.
I'm actually looking at changing mine for a much cheaper one.

I have a LOT of hair and it dries very quickly. It's also very light and easy to handle and angle above your head (I have short hair and have to dry it from above.

DH bought mine when he got a promotion, and I thought it was a lot of money to spend on something like that, but I love it and it was worth it.

Absolutely love mine

I have a Dyson and a GHD one - I was in love with the Dyson originally, but I find I always go to the GHD instead. It takes a fraction longer maybe? But my hair feels nicer afterwards. Parlux get a lot of love but I found the one I tried to be pretty awkward - just didn’t seem to fit my hands properly.

I treated myself to a Dyson about 4 years ago. I have fine hair but lots of it. Even without much effort, my hair just looks more 'done' and sleek and shiny.

I do love it and I think I'd really miss it if I didn't have one. However, it has got a bit glitchy recently - smelling hot, cutting out (despite cleaning it etc), and I just have a feeling it's not going to last much longer.

I'm not sure I could justify the cost again, but equally I can't imagine using a 'normal' hairdryer anymore.

I think I might go for it then, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Is there a good dupe around?
