What do you feed your primary-aged DC after school?

This is going to sound the most stupidest question ever, but exactly as the title asks, really.
DS(4) starts Reception next week and will have a hot lunch each day whilst there. He attended nursery three days a week and ate all meals there (breakfast cereal, hot lunch and something light like sandwiches or wraps for tea). On those days, we’d just feed him snack like fruit, yogurt etc if he was hungry when he got home and DH and I would eat after he’d gone to bed.
However, now I’m not sure what happens from now. He’ll be going to a childminder until 5pm three days a week if that makes any difference. Will he need a ‘big’ meal at teatime? Will just a sandwich/wrap be sufficient? What have you all (fountains of all knowledge) found in your experiences?
Help!

snack after school, then proper family dinner about half 5/6 here (although the night she has swimming I tend to just throw chicken nuggets at her and we eat later)

Mine always had an evening meal as a family around 6.30pm no matter what they ate at school, snacks etc. school food is not very substantial and mine definitely needed the calories as were skinny, still healthy weight as adults. Eating together as a family is so important too

It does change a bit as they get older due to clubs I should add but the family meal is the default unless impossible then one of those bento boxes with assorted food is a good idea

We will also be doing the usual of small snack after school if he wants it and then hot meal eaten with me later on. I’m quite sceptical of school meals having seen them at my school and have no idea how he will get on with them/how much he will eat. So will just do dinner altogether like usual.

Mine always come out of school really hungry so they have a snack then a cooked meal with us.
I work in a primary school and the portions are really small. Think one small scoop of mash, one sausage or 2 small ones and a spoon full of veg.

We always ate family dinners together between 6.30-7pm since DD is born. With DH and me working, nobody was at home before 6pm and we are from a different country where the idea of "children tea at 4.30pm and adult dinner after bedtime" is not the norm.

DD's childminder fed them a hot meal but as DD wasn't used to eating that much at 4pm, she only nibbled.

When I collected her, she got a sandwich, small cake, yoghurt etc and then dinner.

Eat together and feed a smaller portion of what you're having. Make this habitual from the start. This may mean as a family dinnertime needs to move up a bit earlier but eating together is great for children.

Just make a family evening meal and eat it together.
