Bedroom dilemma

I was hoping to get some feedback on bedrooms ; here’s our dilemma.

we’re in a 5 bed house. 3 on the middle floor (master with en suite, a double and a single).

2 doubles on the top floor. Good size rooms. However there is no bathroom/toilet up there (no idea why this wasn’t included as it’s a relatively new house and there’s loads of space up there 🤔) adding the bathroom ourselves not a viable options atm.

struggling to know which rooms to put the kids in.

we have DSS 16 currently in one of the top rooms, with the other as an office. And then our DD6 in the middle double and DD3 in the middle single with a toddler sized bed.

DD3 has outgrown her bed and really we need to now choose one of the two options:

  1. leave bedrooms as is, DD3 has a new single bed in her room (it’s not a box room but not big either, so a single bed, wardrobe and ikea kallax for toy storage would fit but not much else. Could get a bed with storage to help
  2. move the smaller kids up to the top to have big rooms, move teen down to the middle double and then single becomes office. But then no toilet access in the night if needed and I worry about them coming down the stairs.
  3. I guess a third option would be to move DD6 up, DD3 into middle double. But I worry about DD6 being up there alone most of the time (DSS stays fortnightly)

WWYD?

I'd keep them as they are with the IKEA storage solutions. Some toy boxes could be stored in the office.

Keep the bedrooms the same for now. Re think when they are bigger and then move the 6 year old up when more independent

Yes I think you’re right. Another option is the ikea kura with space under? DD3 will be 4 in a few weeks - is that too young do you think? She’s very forward/dextrous and I don’t think the Kura is as high as a normal bunk?

Leave where they are for now. Rethink when the 5yo is 8/7yo or when 16yo has "moved out"

swap office for box bedroom

MeMyselfandIsland · 01/09/2024 16:08

@Breadcat24 that would still require one of the little ones upstairs without a toilet on the same floor

6 year old should be capable of coming downstairs to a bathroom
