Thoughts on chiropractor

So, I’ve just come back from my holiday with back pain that leafy me nearly bed bound on one of the days. I’ve never experienced such eye watering pain. Been to that doc and got naproxen. Took the edge off. Tried physio when this last happened and didn’t work.

considering a chiropractor, anyone had experiences with one that’s worked or shall I just keep going back to the doctor.

My chiropractor has been an absolute god send. I went to one out of desperation, being in pain constantly and pain killers just not touching the sides.
I'd say 80% of my pain was gone after one session.
I go once a month for a regular cracking and I really notice it if I'm late booking a session.

Chiropractors are great, but scare the crap out of me.

One time, when I had a completely frozen neck and shoulders and needed to drive for 9+ hours I went to a Thai masseuse. She freakin' walked on me which I wasn't my expecting (my sister sent me to them and had not had that happen) holding a bar above her to make sure she wasn't too heavy.

Bloody Nora but the clicks and cracks that came out of my body, she even knelt a knee into my palm and cracked that. It was absolutely amazing. Painful, but amazing (tolerable pain though). Without the fast jerks that a chiropractor does that is so scary for me, especially for the neck.

So if you can find an amazing masseuse like that, that's what I would recommend.

Chiropractor is great for me but massage therapy can also be a good complement to it.

There are significant concerns about the safety of chiropractic treatment especially the fast manipulations on the neck, and there have been some very sad cases where people died following this manipulation. And chiropractors are not medically qualified within mainstream medicine. I would go back to the doctor initially ( especially if the pain is getting worse) and maybe consider seeing an osteopath. If you get physio advice, make sure you understand the exercises so you can do them religiously - IME physios explain them much too fast and assume that you’ll retain what they say. I ended up videoing mine.

I would see a physiotherapist.
