have a disease (it's a weird EDS type one) that means I get injured a lot. And now I'm injured. And I can't really walk. And I'm either in pain of feeling sicky from the painkillers.

And I'm SO BORED.

Suggestions?

I've painted my nails four times (v.soothing and they looks fab)
Had long discussions and cuddles with my lodgers dogs
MN (obvs)
Have excellent news rural Irish crime thriller Audible on the go but rationing it.
Snacking (constant)

Keep thinking I'm staring down the barrel of potentially quitting my sport because of all the injuries and getting very gloomy Sad

Oh no, that sounds frustrating.

I don’t know what your injury / condition is but could you do an online exercise class - maybe yoga or stretching? Sorry if that’s off the agenda.

ir could you do an online language / meditation / art / calligraphy course? The open university do some short courses.

hipe you are ok / better soon xx

Blueberriesaretasty · 30/08/2024 20:19

Could you order a puzzle of some description?

Wishing you well for recovery.

Sadly not, only deep breathing into a stretchy band according to physio.

Meditation makes me stabby but language is a great idea, especially since I'm paying for my learn greek app that I never use haha

Put down the snacks and take up smoking. Your lungs will hate you but your waistline will thank you. Slightly joking but use the same technique for quitting. Chewing gum, knitting etc, keep those hands busy.

Download solitaire, mahjong or freecell on your phone/tablet. Or jigsaws and colouring apps.

Tbf, I have all that and I'm still bored (and fat) 😬

Doggymummar · 30/08/2024 20:28

Netflix and candy crush are my go to. I've not been out in about three weeks, but that's my choice so it's different. Hope you feel better soon

Would you be interested in learning a new skill? Taking online courses?
Or maybe reading or crafting.

HangingOver · 30/08/2024 20:39

My friends three year old bought me some watercolour marker pens, might crack those out.

DP has been sent to the local big Morrisons for a jigsaw.

What's the name of the book?

Get on Google maps. Pick a place you're interested in but haven't been. Get the little map man out and go for a walk around - virtually.

Have a look at Geoguesser. Addictive although I think you have to subscribe now, haven't used it for a while.

YouTube. That rabbit hole will keep you engrossed for the night.

I've just started the second Dervla MacTeirnon about DC Cormac. I adore Irish crime fiction was bloody amazed how good the first one was!

I stay in quite a bit sometimes, also have a CTD.
I do puzzles, sudokus & all sorts of word games. Read books and magazines. Sew sometimes if my hands are up to it. Cook / bake (ditto). Potter in the garden (at eye level only!).

Chewbecca · 30/08/2024 20:45

Oh, and I plan holidays! Research and list places I want to visit!

There will 100% be breathing into a stretchy band tutorials online.

I'm a similar position. I read, listen to audio books, write, colour, do puzzles/games and have recently got into jigsaws. I also enjoy things like organising papers and photos.

Aquamarine1029 · 30/08/2024 20:50

There are loads of absolutely incredible documentaries out there. There's even a thread here on MN from yesterday with fabulous recommendations.

Beetlebum1981 · 30/08/2024 20:53

I'm currently enjoying the delights of Covid 🙄 When I'm feeling more awake I've been loving working on my family tree again - you can often get trial subscriptions through Ancestry/Find My Past. Not turned up anything exciting yet though 🤣

Also love the Wordscapes app!

HighlandCow78 · 30/08/2024 20:55

Could DP or a friend take you on a drive somewhere scenic for a coffee/picnic and chat?

GandTtwice · 30/08/2024 21:16

Similar to jigsaw puzzles maybe diamond painting or paint by numbers might be something else to do. If you get a really big one it should take you ages and hopefully you'll be back up and about by then

Charity shops are always goldmines for jigsaws.
