Gluten-free veggie travelling snacks/food?

I'm going on a long coach journey and need some food to take with me. I've recently started a gluten-free diet so some of the usual things I'd take are ruled out, like a homemade nice halloumi and salad wrap or iced buns from M&S.

I'm thinking bananas, nuts etc. but I need something a bit bigger as well in case I can't get to a shop in the evening. Nothing liquid, nothing that needs to stay really cool and nothing really smelly so as not to be antisocial 😅. Also nothing that could cause an upset stomach due to the coach aspect! Does anyone have any good ideas? Thanks.

My favourite iced bun from M and S ( the one they also serve in the cafes there) is now available gluten free too so check out their gluten free section section as their range seems to have improved. Stuffed vine leaves or falafels from M and S? Some humous and lentil crisps? Aldi do some nice flavours of these. A mini Spanish omelette?

Popcorn
Lentil or rice cakes with turkey or peanut butter
Celery with peanut butter and raisins
Tomatoes
Coconut macaroons
Veges and hummus

M&S do GF iced buns!
M&S also do GF sausage rolls, cheese and onion rolls, pork pie, samosas and spring rolls
Nairns GF cheese bakes (mini Cheddars dupe) are a handy emergency food

Eat natural (I think that's the brand) do some gluten free nut bar things (chocolate and hazelnut, almond and coconut I think).

They're quite nice.

Thanks everyone! The news that M&S iced buns are available gluten-free has made my day! 😁

Some excellent ideas there. It's the coach aspect, non-refrigeraed and no liquids that's thrown me. Also that I don't know what situation I'll be eating in- outside? In my seat? I probably would have gone for cucumber sushi rolls and a flask of miso but if I don't have them until the evening it could have been a bit dodgy/risky

I've just found Higgidy mini muffins* and with some vine leaves and some celery sticks in a box that should be ample. Maybe rice cakes and iced buns as a back up (I like to be prepared!).

*The mini muffins are just gluten-free ingredients, not at a Coeliac-suitible level, just in case anyone was going to rush out and buy them

Old El Paso gluten free wraps are nice, so your halloumi wrap is still an option.

Edited

Those aren't gluten free ingredients! Wheat is a significant ingredient in them.

amoreoamicizia · 30/08/2024 11:49

Oh no! I thought they were egg-only! Thanks for the heads-up.

You will have to get very used to reading the ingredients of everything as wheat/gluten are in so many things (I don't have a choice as I have an anaphylactic wheat allergy!).
