Do you get a hug from your teen in the morning before they leave for school?

I always have , but one seems a little quicker to rush out without a hug.

i like to keep up the hug every now and then otherwise it becomes awkward to ever hug each other. But maybe they just out grow hugs?

I have boys if that makes any difference to the question

I do but have to shout ‘hugs for mums’. 14 year old better than 17 year old, but that will always be the case, both boys.

I did get a spontaneous hug from my 14 the other day, which is so rare I remembered it !

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 29/08/2024 15:19

We all go out at different times and it's a bit chaotic so mostly we just call out that we are going. We always have a hug before bed though.

mondaytosunday · 29/08/2024 15:59

Not in the mornings no, but often in the evenings when school age. My son is now 21 and he hugs me every time I see him (he lives on his own). He's more huggy than my DD.

Dts are 14, I tend to get a high five and 'love you bye'.

If I'm in when they get in it's more 'what's for diiiiiiiiiner?' look at the whiteboard ffs

Meadowfinch · 29/08/2024 16:17

No. He's a 16yo boy. Currently averaging a hug about once every two weeks. 😁

HighlandCow78 · 29/08/2024 16:19

Absolutely not. First thing in the morning DD is tired, rushing to get ready and cranky. I’d hate it too if someone insisted on hugging me at that time.

TrappedPotato · 29/08/2024 17:02

I do from DS13 but not DS16.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 29/08/2024 17:04

😂 nope!

Wow some of you are lucky. I celebrate if I get eye contact

I’m lucky if I get a singular word out of DD on the school run 🤣

NyeRobey · 29/08/2024 18:39

3 boys.
Eldest is autistic and hates touch - hasn't had a huge since about age 7.
Middle one I get a hug when he goes to uni or comes home. He is the most communicative on Whatsapp though!
Youngest is more huggy and I used to get one every morning until this last year when he turned 18. Will hug on request though.

WappityWabbit · 29/08/2024 18:40

Never had a hug or a "I love you" from my autistic teen son. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maray1967 · 15/10/2024 19:21

Not now from DS16 - and not for a while …

DS24 - yes, always when he’s here. But not really when he was 16 either!

crackofdoom · 15/10/2024 19:24

I get coffee on a good day. Which, to be honest, I value more than a hug at that time of the morning.

DoublePeonies · 15/10/2024 19:35

13 year old, usually yes as I leave for work at 7.15. And quite often at some point in the evening too.
15 year old, not usually in the morning, but without fail at bedtime he comes and sits on my knee for a bit (he's taller than me, but hey!).

Hoppinggreen · 15/10/2024 19:38

No, DS is usually rushing out of the door but I do get one when he gets home usually.
DD wasn't very tactile so I rarely got a hug ever

RaspberryBeretxx · 15/10/2024 19:38

Ds is 12 and will hug slightly under sufferance in the mornings but I don’t enforce every morning, just go in for a semi hug if it feels like it’ll be received ok. Similar at night although I’ll get random hugs at other times instigated by him. I’m not sure how it’ll be in a year or two 🥹.

MooDeng · 15/10/2024 19:40

Yes. Ds13 is super cuddly
DD15 will have a hug 50% of the time if I ask (autistic)
Ds17 will hug if I ask (autistic)
And DS21 always comes and says 'hug mama' before he goes anywhere

GroovyChick87 · 15/10/2024 19:41

Absolutely not lol. Luckily my younger kids still think I'm the centre of their universe.

Smartiepants79 · 15/10/2024 19:42

No one leaves my presence in the morning without kisses! It’s the rules!
They’d be upset if we ever missed one!

StressedQueen · 15/10/2024 19:45

My twins are 15 and could never leave the house without saying goodbye to every member, hugging all of us and giving us all a kiss. It's in their routine again!

I had to make my son (he's 12) at least let me know when he was leaving!! He's generally very sweet but I think as he's growing, he's definitely outgrown the huggy routine. I just like to know when he's actually on his way to school but it took ages to get that into his mind

FootieMama · 28/10/2024 14:06

DS17 I get a hug when I return from work. He will actually leave his room / fortress come downstairs and give me / accept my hug. DS19 is similar but I have to ask but he never said No

SingingSands · 28/10/2024 14:11

Not always but he might lean his chin on the top of my head and say "bye"

NorthernGirlie · 28/10/2024 14:15

My 13 year old would walk around in my skin if he could - any opportunity for a hug and an "I love you"

He's not arsed if his mates are there either.

Fizbosshoes · 28/10/2024 14:28

DS (15) hugs me multiple times every day, usually he instigates it. I give him a hug before school.

DD (18) stopped hugging anyone when she was about 11 and hates physical contact. However going to uni has been difficult and she's wanted hugs each time we've left, or she's gone back.
