Trypophobia- fear of holes - I got triggered by something in a CBBCs cartoon - does anyone else find this disturbing?

So the other day DS was watching Vegesaurs on CBBC. It’s an episode where a corn on cob has sweetcorn on its back and when it gets scared the popcorn pops out of its back. I’ve got goosebumps writing this as it really set off my disgust of things coming out of holes. My son rewound it when I said it was gross and had to tell him off as it was disturbing me.

growing up my mum used to say about this and when we googled it, we realised it’s a thing and I randomly find I’m more sensitive to it around my monthlies. Also randomly I like watching Dr pimple popper, so I’m not sure why I like that but the vegesaurs thing grossed me right out.

anyone else suffer with this and is as weird as me 😂

It’s human nature. Freaks me out too

I knew someone at work who suffered from this, it was mostly ok but like a lot of phobias unkind people made jokes about it or pointed things out deliberately to cause a reaction.

I haven’t seen that (and don’t want to after reading your description) but yes certain things like that make me feel really weird and uncomfortable.

Yep.

For as long as I can remember.

Barnacles on rocks on beaches on holiday would make me physically sick even as a kid, can't stand crumpets, I can't look at a bunch of straws held together looking into the group of holes, the other day I was washing up and some of the bubbles were lying flat as tiny circles joined together and made me gag.

My DH laughs about it all of the time but honestly my skin crawls and I have a physical reaction to it (gagging, retching or being sick).

My sister and I both do! Especially things in the natural world.

We send each other pics 😂

Both my sister and I suffer from this. The only way I can describe it is like having the heeby jeebies.

I remember being terrified of some gauze under a fresh bandage on my sisters finger when we were younger and ripping it all off - it was so frightening and I didn’t know about this phobia until recently

Yes my mum and sister find it disturbing too. We used to call it “having an eurgh attack”.
