Heat pump or vented dryer?

My tumble dryer needs replacing and I am trying to decide what would work better for us as a family. The dryer gets used A LOT!! There's lots of heavy items that we dry - thick jeans, joggers etc as well as towels, bedding etc. Gym gear isn't such a problem as that tends to be thinner and dries on an airer with the dehumidifier on. When the weather is bad and we cant get things onto the line though we are using the dryer. generally we are doing 3 loads of washing a day (lots of people in the house) so I need a dryer that is going to be able to dry it all, but I don't want anything shrunk or faded (which makes me think go with heat pump) but also I don't want to be waiting all day for 1 load to dry, which is what I have heard heat pumps can be like!
Does anyone have any experience, good or bad?

Thanks so much!

I have just tried starting a thread on a similar topic (worried about whether our garage would be too cold for a heat pump dryer) - but I see you have had no replies. Did you opt for this sort of machine in the end?

We have a heat pump dryer. It is AA rated and very cheap to run - but it takes FOREVER to dry things. In your situation I would go with a vented dryer. We can usually do 1 1/2 loads in a day(meaning that the second load needs to be finished off the next day. If I needed to get a lot of drying done in one day on a regular basis I would definitely get a vented dryer.

We only use our dryer during the day because:
We use solar power whenever possible
We don't leave it running when we are out/at night because of fire risk.

You don't have to choose between the 2, the heat pump driers are very expensive to buy, I have a vented one in my shed. DD has a self condensing model because she has no outside walls, terraced house. Mine dried faster than hers.

I love my heat pump dryer but 3 wash loads a day takes some organising. I can dry 3 loads a day but they each take about 3 hours (gym stuff less time). That’s ok for me as I’m at home I won’t ever go out and leave a tumble dryer on - or have one in a garage after seeing a fire caused by one - .
Running costs are cheap for a heat pump .

I looked into heat pump driers but they don't work if kept in the garage, they have to be kept at a certain temperature range.
