Washing machine making a racket - anti vibration mat question

My neighbour came over about half an hour ago to complain about the noise of the washing machine, and suggested checking the feet.

As I'm on my own at the moment, I won't be able to do this until dh is back from scouts trip.

This has been an ongoing thing though, and our machine does seem to be very loud and occasionally moves away from its position, lodged underneath the counter by the sink.

Has anyone tried the vibration mat or pads to resolve the problem? I've had a look at this one from Srewfix amd it doesn't seem to expensive for a bit peace!

Your neighbour is probably right - if it's super noisy and walking itself out of postion, it's probably uneven and needs levelling via the feet.

Have you got a spirit level to check? (Check the floor as well, as your floor might be wonky!) The second page of the 'Measure' app on your iPhone has a spirt level function too.

When it was plumbed in did you definitely take the bolt out that holds the drum in place.
Only asking because I didn't even know this was a thing until the neighbours told me they were having on to everything on their shelves in the adjoining wall🤦🤷

Thanks both.

There is a rusty front right foot, and the flooring being slightly uneven amd not concrete doesn't help either.

Your neighbour is probably right about it being uneven.
We also had one that was very noisy because the bearings had gone.
How old is the machine? We seem to need to replace ours every 5-6 years, family of 4 so machine is used a lot!

Shouldn’t matter. You pop a spirit level on top and then adjust each foot individually until level. Because each foot is individually adjustable, you can get it level on an uneven floor.

Another cause may be you aren’t putting in balanced loads of washing or overloading the machine. When you put dry clothes in, don’t go above halfway up the drum. Never wash one pair jeans, or one Bath towel in a load- you need even number of big heavy things in a load.

Fight, I'll go and look gor the spirit level and have a go.

Great! It is better to get the machine operating properly as it juddering and vibrating really badly such that it moves will over time break it prematurely. The mats only mask the problem.

I would check this also, my brother left the bolt on and complained bitterly about his noisy washing machine until I mentioned it.....................
