Period swimwear - please provide an idiot's guide

Would this be suitable for an adult with normal to more heavy flow?

How do they work step by step please? They can be washed in a hotel basin?

Please give me all the info and any tips.

This is for adult dd who is currently unable to use tampons or preventative medication due to health conditions. It's for a holiday very soon and therefore not able to try out in a bath etc.

DD and I both use period swimwear, it’s fine for me but she has heavier periods than me and feels one costume would only last half a day. So if you wanted a whole day swimming, she’d want two (in fact she decides whether she swill swim morning or afternoon and then wear normal clothes the other part of the day).

For washing, we are on campsites with a laundrette so they get rinsed at the end of the day and then go in a wash. But I imagine you could wash them in a hotel sink with hand wash.

PS I’ve bought ours from Modibodi and Wuka Wear.

Thank you so much @mrssquidink!

Agree with previous poster. If you buy 2 pairs of bikini period swimwear then you can mix with other bikini tops or put under your usual swimwear. I had 1 pair but would get 2 next time as I wanted to take them off after swimming and then rinse them, so if swimming again in the afternoon it was a bit unpleasant putting a wet pair on (they were rinsed out, only unpleasant as I don't like wearing wet things!). No leaks whatsoever, even on reasonably heavy days - I was super anxious but they worked a treat. I wore them for my swim and then changed after due to being anxious about potential leaks but this was probably unnecessary. They work really well.

Thank you!

Is this for the sea? Or for pools too? I would be worried about a pink cloud, but peri might tip me into trying it.

How on earth is it completely waterproof??

JumpstartMondays · 28/08/2024 01:28

But how do they actually work? I genuinely am baffled. I thought maybe like reuseable nappies (which I used with my kids) but then they'd absorb water in a pool it would be impossible so maybe they work a different way?

Following with interest!

Both are a possibility!

Yes I don't really understand how they work.

As a user I also have no idea how they work! But they do, certainly DD and I have had no problems with dubious pink clouds around our nether regions in the pool or stains on towels.
