I couldn't remember how old I am!

For the last couple of weeks I've been trying to remember my age, and for the life of me, I just couldn't remember if I was 47 or 48. I also couldn't be arsed to work it out. So today I used an online age calculator and discovered that I am in fact 47 years old! That was good news, as if I had to place a bet, I would have said 48.

Does this happen to anyone else?!

I can never remember. I can work it out without resorting to a calculator though.

@PretendYourNameisKeith I think this is it! I'm near the end of the year too :)

Umm, are you under a lot of pressure OP?

Do you find yourself walking into a room, and not knowing why you walked in there for?

Do you find yourself looking for your keys, only for them to be in your pocket all along?

If you wear glasses, but wonder where they are, until someone points out that you're already wearing them?

Maybe you need to take a break? 😁

I forgot my age recently and thought I was a year younger than I actually am until DH corrected me. I felt like I'd lost a year.

I have done this regularly and am the same age as you, OP. My excuse is that my birthday is near the end of the year, so I spend the year thinking oh God I'm going to be X age this year, and end up convinced that I already am!

Yes me too. Near ish end of year birthday. Makes it harder. I got an A at maths a level!

I also can’t do clocks time conversion when the clock goes forward or back. I know this shouldn’t be hard!

Yes. I always seem to add an extra year. When I work it out by subtracting my birth year, I’m always pleasantly surprised! But then again I’m repeatedly shocked every time I see it’s 2024, and it’s nearly August. You’d think the penny would have dropped by now.

Sorry to break it to you, but it’s actually nearly September. Not sure how that happened. 2024 still sounds like a date in the future to me.
I’m another one who has to work out how old I am, and the same for my DC now they’re over 20.

No. I have never forgotten my age. Or date of birth.

FawnFrenchieMum · 27/08/2024 21:24

My DH is 8.5 years older then me and it used to baffle me and actually irritate me when he couldn’t remember how old he was, then I got past 36 and between 37-39 it was a bit blurry. At 40 im ok again (nice round number!) but definitely started to understand after 36, god help me when I get to 46!

Oh my lord, you’re right! I blame Covid. My perception of time just went out of the window during lockdown and it never returned!
