Why do so many people seem to have Covid (and it’s summer?)

I’m taken aback how many people I know who have Covid. Why is that? I assumed it was typically a winter illness.

also, I’m going away on a course next week and I’m worried about getting it and not being able to go.

if you have had it recently, what were your symptoms?

The only reason I still test if symptomatic is that I get anxious about what's coming - back when I had the first variant in 2020, I had 4 days of feeling "a bit fluey" before it suddenly took me off my feet on day 5, with all the fun that entailed. Was sick in bed for 10 days in total.

So I am nervous of getting it again when vomiting is a common symptom. I've only had 2 vaccinations, no booster. Is it worth it?

@FatBuccaneer The latest varient does seem the worst for a while.
I've had it 3 times. 2021 the delta varient. I was very ill, hospitalised and took 3 months to recover. Second time, omicron 2021, a 3 day sniffle. Then this year, the current varient, another nasty one and knocked me sideways.
