School shoes

I was just wondering how do you all decide what size school shoes to buy? My daughter measured bang on 10 and my mums going to get her some school shoes from Clark’s. I don’t want them to be too big or her to outgrow them too quick. So I was just wondering what everyone else does when buying school shoes?

Take the children to the shop and let the fitter work it out.

Find an independent with well qualified fitter and let them do the rest.

If your mums getting them from Clark’s take Dd with her…..my GC is a 1 ….she measured 1 at Clark’s….but due to the fit of the shoes and her foot shape…..she was advised to buy a 1.5 in a narrower width….so that’s what we did …..shoes fit lovely with a bit of growing room…..if your mum can’t take your Dd then you take her and get your mum to give you the money

Go to an independent, ask for them to advise. You never buy without trying as they all fit differently.

Clarks are not great these days.

Go to a shoe shop.

Ask the to measure her feet.

Try shoes on.

Pick ones that fit well and have space to grow.

Clarks measure and recommend a size that allows for growth.

bit of a broad statement about Clarks 🙄
Any shoe shop for kids ….independents or the likes of Clarks…..will be shit if the staff are useless…..going to an dependant doesn’t get you a better fit .

the Clarks in my town is very good….2 of the staff have been there for over 20 years….. you take as you find

so you think that only independents have well trained fitters? …

Go to the shoe shop with the child. Just because something theoretically fits, it doesn't mean that it's comfortable.

The heel or toe of the shoe may be the wrong shape and could fall off. My DD hates the feeling of T bars so won't wear a shoe with one.

We have had many arguments over this. A 10 in one brand could be a 9 or 11 in another brand. Go and try them on.

I used to work for Clarks fitting kids shoes. We were trained to leave one thumb width growing space in the front.

When I buy school shoes for my kid, I usually go up half a size if they’re measured right on the number, so if she’s a 10, I’d get a 10.5. It gives just enough room for growth without being too loose. I’ve found Stylo’s staff are great at checking the fit, especially around the heel and toes, and they’ll tell you if the size is likely to last the term. I’d rather they fit well now than be too big and uncomfortable.
