Can I take my DC to parkrun?

I kniw I can. My issue is, at 7 and 9, and fairly active, will they be ok to do it with me, slowly? They don't run other than 'around"....

I'd like to start going as part of my get fit program, I won't be running loads but enjoy the support of park run.

I think Sundays are the kids parkrun, could you start there? It's half the distance I believe.

Yes you can but they need to stay with you. Good luck!

yes as long as they stay within arms length of you (or another known adult)

you can always try it and see how you get on and stop if it’s too much.

TickingAlongNicely · 24/08/2024 15:13

Are younable to take another adult, who can take them off you if they give up halfway round?

RhaenysRocks · 24/08/2024 15:13

Yes they absolutely can but stay toward the back, make sure they follow any "keep left" type instructions and if it's a lap course keep them out of the way of the faster runners who may overtake you. You might want to try out a few different ones for the most suitable course.

Oor · 24/08/2024 15:13

Yes loads of kids go to the one by me

Fizbosshoes · 24/08/2024 15:17

Most parkrun courses are laps. Worst case scenario, they might be fed up after one lap (or want to stop then) and you might need a few weeks to build up to completing the whole thing?

Or start near the back and have some walking breaks?

Allnewtometoo · 24/08/2024 15:17

I can't take another adult or go to the junior one

It is a 3 lap course that I'm familiar with (did it ore dc....)

I will be at the back and going slooooow.....

At that age they'll be fine, just start at the beck and expect to do some walking too, depending on your children and their perseverance.

My two do it with me and are 5 & 7, they do it in 35 minutes roughly. By no means at the back.

Allnewtometoo · 24/08/2024 15:29

@overmydeadbody there will be walking! For me as well as them. I was going to get them on their bikes when I go for a run at home , but maybe they should run with me!

Yes you can. My brother takes his 2 boys who are 5 and 6 and has done since he used to push them round in a buggy. You do need to stay with them. This is now getting difficult for DB as he is struggling to keep up with his eldest.
