Can someone please figure out the mystery of the Pink Tabby?

Starting one week ago, our cat has begun coming home pink. It’s actually even worse now, as he’s come back with what looks like extreme pink contorting on his cheeks.

He’s clearly found something he enjoys rubbing up on. What could our neighbours be doing? It isn’t stiff like if it were drying paint, for example. It’s not dried blood either. His fur is very fluffy and soft, no change in texture nor odour.

Can someone please figure out the mystery of the Pink Tabby?

Not sheep this time of year ! Tupping at the v earliest is September.. all the spring lamb colours are virtually worn off. (Sheep farm here ) .. normal tupping time is End of October/November.. depending where you are .

If that colour was from a Rams box it would mean them lambing in January.. good luck to anyone who wants to do that.

Flea combing was to check for iron oxide particles that could be causing the pink colour as rust is very hard to remove, stains for a long time not to check for fleas.

Ahhh ok sorry misunderstood!

It looks like something he’s eaten, like a flamingo, they start out white until they eat a certain fish!

I don’t mean he’s eaten a flamingo

WhenWillWanksWildly · 23/08/2024 19:56

Don’t some white dogs get this around their mouths? Maybe whatever causes that around dogs mouths could be similar to cats grooming themselves all over?

Newtrix · 23/08/2024 19:59

No suggestion but he's beautiful and I think he looks like Benedict Cumberbatch in Cat form

CherrySocks · 23/08/2024 20:03

Maybe he's been sleeping on something that isn't colour fast in a neighbour's garden, like a cushion or blanket on patio furniture

Op is he pinkish all over? Looks like the top of his head is normal colour.

It’s where he rubs, so cheeks, shoulders, sides, a bit on his upper back leg towards the back, and a tiny splotch on his front left foot for some reason.

He's definitely in love with a sheep. 😁

MelainesLaugh · 23/08/2024 21:11

He’s gorgeous! What’s his name?

I wonder if it’s from a plant or something. To stain that strongly. Maybe a raspberry bush

We are tupping at the moment so it's quite possible it's ram raddle marker he's been rubbing against.

Go and have a look at the sheep fields and see if the sheep have red or pink bums and you will have your answer!

reallyworriedjobhunter · 23/08/2024 21:37

My white with black splodges cat is coming back orange at the moment. I think it's from grass rust.

Our cat (also tabby male) got pink/red paws and nose when we had the outside of our house painted and he stuck his nose and paws in to inspect. Though it does look like he may have a sheep girlfriend.

Love this!

although I would get him checked with the vet incase it’s toxic

Isometimeswonder · 23/08/2024 21:57

Are there any little girls nearby that are putting makeup on him? My sister used to treat the cat like a doll!
Or he's living his best Barbie life.
