UCAS points debate

lovemyboyz247 · 23/08/2024 16:03

Can someone please let me know if there is anyway to get 120 UCAS points in one year, without sitting A levels?

I don't believe there is, but my friend is certain you can. Please settle this debate for me if you can! Thank you

Access course with enough credits will.

lovemyboyz247 · 23/08/2024 16:11

Thank you. I believe you have to be 19 to do an access course?

How can an 18 year old get the points without A levels?

There's also points and points.

Grade 8 piano may in theory give you points, but often it will say 'from 3 A levels' or 'from extended diploma BTEC' or whatever, not cobbled together from a collection if random things.

4 Highers at A are 132 points
5 x Highers at B are 135 points
3 Advanced Highers are 168 points

And various combinations of the above can exceed 120 points. Most are sat in one year.

AAT (accountancy) level 3 diploma is 160 UCAS points, so I'm told. You can complete in less than a year.

BTec carry UCAS points

lovemyboyz247 · 23/08/2024 16:37

Thank you for the replies.

Can a BTEC that gives you 120 UCAS points be completed in a year?

I thought a BTEC national is a two year course. I will look into that

This might sound like a silly question, but can you carry over UCAS points? If someone has 95 from last year and need 120 points, do they need to start again or can they use the points from last year and do an additional course?

The devil's in the detail. Some universities say that the points must be achieved in one sitting/year, or must be from A-levels, or other restrictions. What looks like a "tariff points from anywhere" requirement might not be.
