ive had a cleaner for over a year and it seems shes always made prices up. for over 3 months i was paying a set amount of £80, this is for her and her son to clean for an hour. lately she keeps saying she did something extra so will need an extra £20 or she had to put clothes away of move cushions or toys, extra £30 even thought shes never stayed any longer and sometimes leaves early.
The final straw was shes now charged me £120 this week, she was on her own and i asked why and she's stating that she had to fold clothes that were on the table and pick toys up, i said she should of asked about this before deciding to add an extra £40, she still only stayed an hour, that's £120 for an hours work. i replied saying we agreed a set amount every 2 weeks so this is what i am paying. does this not sound like extortionate amount of money. i am north of the UK. She did deep clean for me when she started and this was for 5 hours of work for £220 which i thought was reasonable at the time, but £120 for an hour? she is saying she will make a claim.

Cleaners here are between £15- £20 per hour. £ 80 would cover a holiday home changeover. She sounds terrible. Another vote for getting rid.
And if she has a key, change the locks.

We live in one of the most expensive bits of the South East and cleaners are £15 p/h for a very good level of cleaning. So should be max £30 for two per hour.

You are being robbed blind and massively taken advantage of. Refuse to pay any more than the agreed amount, get rid and change the locks.

As you’ve got a lot on your plate at the moment I’d just pay her the £80 and let her know that you no longer require her services. Then advertise for a cleaner @ £25p/h, someone will bite your hand off for it, I pay my cleaner £22.50 an hour (although I get 4 hours a week) and she brings all her own cleaning materials and hoover and steam mop - we have always said she’s welcome to use ours but she said she prefers using her own and if anything breaks she doesn’t feel guilty, £40 an hour is a total pisstake.
dont feel guilty for letting her go, she’s been taking the piss out of you long enough.

So it didn't take her any longer - she did extra work? So what didn't she do, in order to fit in the 'folding and toys'? She can't have it both ways.

Oh yes, and she's ripping you off mightily.
