Denmark: Copenhagen & Billund

Booking a trip for March/ April time next year. Probably into one airport and out of the other, but struggling to figure out how many nights in each place. Is 2 full days enough in Copenhagen? How about 5 days at Llandia in Billund to also do legoland?
was thinking of getting train/ bus between each city.
Any tips please? A few kids of varying ages…so don’t want to be stressed dragging them around but also don’t want too long in places!
thx

Take a lot of money. We spent nearly £20 on 2 coffees earlier this year at a standard cafe in Copenhagen. Spent £50 for 2 main meals and a beer each in a bog standard restaurant. I knew it was expensive but hadn’t expected that.

You can book these big social meal hall things that are loads cheaper but need to book at least 3 weeks in advance.

I've never done Billund but would say three days in CPH at an absolute minimum!

We took the train from Copenhagen to Vejle and a connecting bus from there to Billund. Was very easy.
We had two days in Copenhagen and I could easily have spent more time there. We did a canal tour (Stromma website) and particularly enjoyed the Museum of Illusions alongside the other standard things.
In Billund you will want a day in the Lego House as well as whatever time you want at Legoland, WowPark and Lalandia.

You really don't need 5 days at Billund - 3 days would be enough - I would split the other way around. And we love Legoland and especially Lego House!

What's this meal thing and how do you book it please?

It’s like communal social dining. I remember 2 in particular being called Madglad and Absalon. The dining link for that is here absaloncph.dk/en/food/

We spent 5 days in Billund earlier this year just doing Lego (Legoland x 2 days and Lego House x 2). We didn’t go into Lalandia but from the outside it looks enormous. Everything is walking distance in Billund which is nice.

Arg this is disappointing to hear. I also suspected it would be pricey, I have worked in Norway before, but with 4 kids as well that makes the price for food almost out of range 😭

we were going to stay in Llandia and then use their water parks but also as a base to go to legoland etc

I was thinking a canal tour in Copenhagen, and more “sites” stuff but wasn’t sure about bothering with Tivoli Gardens if we are doing legoland…? Or is it defo worth it with the kids?

We just came back from Billund two days ago. The bus is free for kids under 12 so just the adults pay, buses are very nice, clean and punctual. I don't know about the trains.

I think five days in Billund will be too much. Maximum three days, two days at Legoland (buy two day tickets as much cheaper) and one day in Lego House.
Take food/sandwiches and snacks with you. There is a grocery shop called ABCLavpris close to Legoland/Lalandia and another called Rema100 (I think). If you have cooking facilities in your accommodation then go with packed lunches to both Legoland and Lego House.
Food is so expensive, the equivalent of 1 adult and 2 kids meals in legoland cost around €60 so about £48/50.
Don't forget to take a refillable water bottle as 500ml water cost the equivalent of €2:70
You can buy refillable coke cups for Legoland. They can get free refills approx every 10 mins all day if they like fizzy drinks.
Also the Legos at both Legoland and Lego House are super expensive, much better buying at the airport as there are discounts there.
