Walking Pads - Are They Worth It?

Hi,

I'm trying to get serious about getting fitter and healthier and lose some of the baby weight.

A waking pad is one of the options with the weather getting colder and me going back to work soon.

Are walking pads actually any good or are they just gimmicky?

Thanks

I have one. I use it in camera off meetings and if I get brain block while working 🤣 I like it and have increased my step count through using it. I store mine under my desk.

What even is this? 🤔
I'm interested!

We had one and traded it in for a proper treadmill with an incline. The inability to incline meant we couldn't increase the resistance. It depends on your fitness goals if that matters to you.

@MattDamon how does walking at an incline benefit you more than not walking at an incline? Sorry very new to the fitness world.

@CrossCuntry thank you for sharing your experience. Did you buy yours off of Amazon?

Following as I'm looking at them but found the reviews to be poor on long term use as many mention they break down in less than 2 years

walking up a hill is harder than walking on a flat surface so you work harder, burn more calories etc.

I've got a walking pad and I do use it a fair amount, you get a lot of extra steps in but there is obviously a limit to the amount of exercise you're getting. But I just tell myself at least I'm doing something lol

Is it aerobic fitness, or strength, balance, flexibility or other you are looking for?

Is space at a premium? You can get a second hand treadmill dead cheap and set a desk up over it.

Exactly this. We felt like we hit a limit on the benefits we were getting out of it.

I have one which I use when I'm working as I have a desk job - prev I was luck to get 2-3l steps per day. Now I can easily get 10k if not more.

I don't walk on it continuously all day, just 30-60mins here and there.

I started with 10-20 mins at a time and have built that up over a few weeks.

@SnaccidentsHappen thank you. Not sure if your goal was weight loss - but has it helped?
