Hi, I went with my two daughters. We have been following TNN stories for a while. My youngest (12) is a huge fan. (She has spent months making a booklet by drawing all the characters and writing lots about them.) We did pass it backstage.
I was disappointed for my daughter. The venue was awful. It was two tunnels each with a stage. She (obviously) ran to the front to get close to TNN. (Everyone had the same idea!) I had visions of being back in a mosh pit! 🤣 Pity that there was no decent band(!)
I was gobsmacked that TNN only came out each time for a matter of minutes. There were dancers, a DJ and some bloke announcing stuff.
It was delayed due to not everyone being inside. Not sure why the security was only letting in a couple of people at a time. It was packed. Mostly kids and teens. Every time a character was shown on the projector - they would all scream. I get the initial excitement though this went on all night. It was grating. There weren't a lot of seats; the ladies toilets were upstairs. (Not great for accessibility.) My older daughter was bored (not a fan) and found it too loud, and too many people. It was very hot with no Aircon. A lot of the kids and teens were crying at the next instalment of the stories. I didn't quite understand that. I can see they are absolutely invested in this TikTok star. They all dressed up like one of the characters.
The event wasn't very well put together. We had the apprentice tickets, and for what I paid, it wasn't worth it. The fans came to see Charlotte! Going to an event to watch videos...we could've done that on social media the next day.
I have been to many concerts, and the artist performs for at least 1.5 hours. I certainly wouldn't recommend any future Nursery Nurse events. (Unless she changes the management company.) It was expensive considering her followers are quite young. I was intrigued by how she would pull this off being only one person. There wasn't a lot of interaction between her and the crowd. She could have stood on the stage a lot longer and waved/danced or spoken with some of the fans.
I have noticed a lot of controversy online as there were no bag checks, etc.
I did speak (inadvertently) with the manager of the venue. He asked me what I thought...I said it was a terrible venue with split stages. Once he made me aware of who he was! He appreciated the feedback. He had no idea who Charlotte was.
My daughter appreciated it and loved seeing her albeit only for maybe 10 minutes max out of the entire night. We did discuss the evening on the way back and I could tell she felt disappointed with the lack of presence. There was no thank you to the fans for coming. No goodnight etc.
My daughter's friend paid for the meet and greet and got to stay backstage. I think they got a free bag and mug. There were a handful of them who paid nearly £150 for that privilege! 🤔 I respect people like what they like. I don't get the hype.
My daughter got some merch - a few posters and a bag. All the hoodies (£50) and T-shirts (£35) were for display only, and I was told to order online. Again, I found this to be expensive for what it is. I also couldn't justify £15 - £20 for a baked potato! 😲
We had a good weekend in London as we did have other plans. I am glad it wasn't solely for this event.
TNN first meet and greet was free. I wish I did more research on the previous one in Manchester.
My daughter enjoyed it and as a mum I'm happy with that. However, I had completely different expectations.
I hope I have raised some awareness.
Thanks 🙂
