Should we cancel our holiday?

DD (6) has been complaining on and off of a sore tummy since yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon she had one episode of a slightly bad tummy then said she felt sick. An hour later she devoured her dinner and was fine all night so I put it to the back of my mind.

Just on the way to the airport now and she says she feels sick again. Arghh what to do?

Doesn't help I have emetophobia so I just want to turn around as dealing with sickness away from home is next level!

DH thinks I'm overreacting and that if DD had a bug she wouldn't have kept her dinner down last night.

What do you think?

my mum calls it journey pride that sick feeling you have before going on holiday.

I'm sure it'll pas when you're all there.

I get it OP. I'm an emetophobe (but have had therapy and am considered "well controlled"). Its shit like this that would hit me hard though.

Try not to go straight to worse case scenario.

DD may not be sick
If she is sick she may recover quickly
It may not be a bug if she is sick
There is no guarantee if it is a bug that you'll all get it
Even if the absolute worst was to happen you'll all get through it and cope.

We actually had Norovirus on the house the week before we went away. It took 3 out of 5 of us down but thankfully was fast passing and we made our holiday.

Taking some essential medication with you is a good call and get a good bleach spray when you arrive at your destination.

Hope it all ends up being okay.

Really interesting about the changes in air pressure being different in older planes, I always wondered why there was less sickness now, thanks

Seconded! My Brownie leader in the 90s collected sick bags from different air carriers (we always used to let her know if we were going away in case it was a carrier she didn't have!) - nowadays sick bags don't seem to be as much of a staple and I'd wondered why. Really interesting!

We made it! She asked for food after her nap and was fine, then skipped lunch as she felt sick again but now perfectly fine having dinner.

Glad we didn't turn around, not sure DH would have forgiven me!

Great news, have a fab holiday.

Hope you have a wonderful time OP!!

Glad to hear it!
FYI this sounds exactly like the bug that has hit us this week. Weird and low lying, with maybe a small amount of vomiting but nothing like norovirus. I had it and was able to operate almost as normal, just felt sick periodically and after eating. DS vomited once but was otherwise similar. DD was sick more but she is a very ‘sicky’ kid thanks to reflux. It’s a strange one and hopefully will be the same for you if any of the rest of you do get it. Have a great holiday!
