It's not you, it's him! He just isn't ready. I'd be inclined to leave it two months or so and revisit. Many boys are 3 or older, try not to worry.

He’s too young - wait a bit longer.

Also he might by pass the potty and go straight to toilet with a toddler seat, my Ds never used a potty. He was almost 3 and a half and I remember the frustration well. He just didn't get it, I was only wasting my time.

If he’s refusing put it away for a month or so he isn’t ready.

Back off for a bit.

My DD wast dry at night until nearly 7 and I was so stressed. The Health Visitor said
to not worry etc. One day it all changed.

The same is true when they start reading. People will be competitive and kids will develop at all different rates. Just relax and make it fun and it will click at some point.

Both my children I waited until they were ready, between 3 and 3.5 and it was done easily in 48 hours. I watched everyone else having to go to the toilet every 2 mins and decided I didn’t want to do that

LivSz · 21/08/2024 12:50

yeah we tried one weekend and after 2 days couldn’t he kept holding it in then getting so upset with accidents

I don’t want it to be scary for him it’s such a big thing I feel like I’m not doing it right

any tips please I want it to be okay for him and easy not scary for him

Leave it for a while, don't make it into an issue, and then try again. Anything he remembers from this time round means he'll quickly pick it up when he can doit.
Also invite already trained children round to play - see if he wants to copy & use potty/toilet like (other boy name).
