Pubic hair on baby - panicking!

I'm panicking a bit at the moment.

I have an 8 month old daughter.

For the last 2 months I noticed some very fine pubic hair in her vaginal area. She's not a hairy baby in other areas, so I find this concerning.

She's also my 3rd baby and I haven't seen this in my other babies.

We've been abroad over the summer, so we went to see the GP today.

The GP said he will write to an endocrinolgist in the hospital.

He said I might have to go for blood tests in the hospital, but that I would know in 5-7 days.

I'm really scared now there's something wrong with my daughter.

Has anyone else been through this and it has been okay?

My daughter also had a very tiny, bony bump on one side of her lower skull when she was born.

I mentioned it to the health visitor and saw the GP about it. The GP said he's never seen this before, but he asked me if I wanted to do an x-ray in the hospital. He left it up to me, as he wasn't too concerned with her skull.

I said I wanted to do an x-ray in the hospital to rule out anything nasty like cancer.

They did the X-ray and everything was "reassuringly normal". The little bump/lump was just an anomaly they couldn't explain.

Now that she's grown the tiny bony lump has almost disappeared.

I later went on dr google and read that x- rays can cause later miscarriages in life.

I now worry that I caused damage with the x-ray, that I somehow messed with her hormones and that the hair in her vaginal area is somehow related to this.

Can anyone reassure me that I didn't cause damage to my daughter?

Please be kind.

Thanks xx

Little girls can just have hormone imbalances that means the odd pubic hair can grow. It's generally nothing to be concerned about but an investigation by an endocrine expert won't hurt.

Most children have to have x-rays during their childhood for bumped limbs or for dental work. One individual x ray is not going to be an issue. Perhaps if she had a medical condition that required her to have them regularly then you might worry.

Are you generally anxious or is it just this as you see to be spiralling, step away from Dr. Google. 99% of the time everything is fine.

I can’t find any proper studies that say X-rays cause miscarriages later in life. This is obviously a worrying time for you, stop googling and wait for the tests and a medical professional to speak with you, otherwise you you will worry yourself sick. Google is not your friend here, I could probably find a random source that links mint choc chip ice cream to sperm disfunction if I tried hard enough. Please wait for the tests and don’t jump the gun.
