ADHD in social media

Ok don’t all throttle me for this, this is a genuine question.

I was listening to Katherine Ryan’s podcast but the same sort of thing is absolutely all over social media. She was saying how she has 40 tabs open in her brain, and walks into a room and forgets why she’s there, and people keep telling her she probably has ADHD, but she doesn’t care to get diagnosed.

I reckon if you ask any functioning adult with a busy life, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who DOESN’T have 40 tabs open in their brain. That’s just a human trait. Likewise humans are messy, forgetful, clumsy. That doesn’t mean ADHD - surely ADHD is a combination of many traits that negatively affect your life? The narrative online seems to be that if you have a busy mind, procrastinate and have a floordrobe then you’ve got ADHD.

But then again, it’s all a spectrum so very few people will be bang on ‘typical’ right? So what’s the big deal then if the majority of brains aren’t typical?

Obviously I’m asking all this because I have many ‘ADHD traits’ but my point is, doesn’t everyone?? And ADHD is surely much more complex than that.

I have a theory that many many comedians have ADHD - the quickness of mind / quick wit is linked with this "busy brain". The ADHD foundation describes it as a brain like a ferrari with bicycle brakes.
Ditto I reckon a lot of people who are whizzes at games / quizzes also have ADHD (or are ND in another respect).
The fact is, NOT everyone has these ADHD traits. Sometimes we surround ourselves with people like us (or our family, who are genetically more likely to be like us!) that we don't see that these things are not the same for everyone.
A diagnosis only means meeting a threshold - you can have traits but they don't impair you to the extent that you would be diagnosed.

Personally I don't understand why so many people angst over other people believing they may have ADHD / other ND. What is the issue?!

Bet I get flamed, but whatever...
