Is it worth it for little pay?

I'm working in a call centre at the moment.
It's a full time role between 7-11pm
The only thing is as soon as I started I got the worst hours
Wednesday ,Thursday ,Friday,Saturday and Sunday
2pm till 11 pm it's £11.45 a hour
I have no life
I never see my partner as he only has weekends off.

Is it worth it for these hours /pay ?

If you need the money it's always worth it, until you can find something with better hours

Mintchocco · 18/08/2024 21:24

How desperately do you need the money?

You could get better hours than that in retail/hospitality.

Cobblersorchard · 18/08/2024 21:24

Depends on your circumstances surely?! What financial responsibilities you have and what the alternative is.

BCBird · 18/08/2024 21:25

Do u need to work there? If so, can u request Mon to Fri? I'd look for something else

greenergrads · 18/08/2024 21:27

Me and partner live together
Partner earns around £2,000 a month
Our bills are £900
So we aren't struggling but I still need /want a job to contribute to the house.
I just feel so tired all the time lately

I'd always stay in a job while I looked for a different one.
By the time you factor in time commuting and they cost of it you can probably find a more local one with better hours eventually.

Bjorkdidit · 18/08/2024 21:52

Can they offer you different hours? Is there anything else closer to home?

Antisocial hours and a 2 hour round trip commute for a whole penny an hour above NMW is pretty bad, but you also need to work. So if they can't offer you better hours, even reducing to one weekend day and an earlier start and finish would be much better, then see if you can find something else. I assume that they don't offer remote working?

EffinMagicFairy · 18/08/2024 21:57

It’s a bit unfair they don’t rotate shifts, would be better if you could do a week of early & week of lates. Can’t imagine anyone wanting to stay if those hours are set in stone.

notanotheronenow · 18/08/2024 21:59

No, that's absolutely terrible.

You could quit tomorrow and clean people's houses for £18-£30/hour and choose your own hours. Just need to create a Facebook page and share it in some local groups, ask some friends/family to share as well.

Beezknees · 18/08/2024 23:12

I do similar work. I am in customer services taking inbound calls. I'm on £26k and it's 9-5 Mon-Fri, I also wfh 3 days a week.

I wouldn't quit a job without one to go to but I'd definitely be looking for something else.

And set up as a sole trader business, get liability insurance etc, obviously...

If you need a job you need a job OP. Sticking at it until you find something that better suits will look better on your CV than sacking it off and leaving gaps.

I would keep working while you look for a new job.
