Peeing All Night After Increasing F&V

Well, that’s interesting. I recently (in the last week) made some changes to my diet - mainly increasing fruit and veg. I have IBS and have had to moderate f&v in the past due to that but after our recent holiday where we were eating out a lot and having rich food I was craving them so thought I’d give it a go. I’ve mainly been adding bigger salads and snacking on fruit - but only about twice a day for the snacks.

Well, I’ve been up all night peeing! It happend at the beginning of the week too but put that down to being due on my period as that normally happens once a month. Practically every 2 hours I was up. It was probably worse last night as I had jacket potato. I’m absolutely worn out, which isn’t great as I have ME/CFS as well.

Has anyone else experienced this? I was enjoying the increase and very surprisingly my IBS has not been affected. I don’t want to have to decrease it all again but I’m not sure what else I can do.

For the record, I’m not diabetic (HbA1c 29 very recently), this has happened previously but only very infrequently and always relates to when I have foods containing lots of water (rice, pasta), though not every time I have them. The change is definitely related to the increase in f&v.

Any thoughts?

F&v?

Fruit & veg

Several types of veg are diuretic - especially cabbagey greens. I find eating additional greens helps me with the water retention I get around my period. Fruit and veg can also have a high water content, so you are probably taking on more fluid than usual. Like any change to diet, your body will take a short time to adjust. I’d go with it for the sake of the other benefits to your health.

Thank you for replying. It does make sense when you think about it. I had a better night’s sleep last night, as I didn’t have much too near bed time. I just hope my body adjusts soon as I have been enjoying what I’ve been having and particularly the fact my IBS has been behaving.
