How to grow babies hair?

bunnyear · 16/08/2024 19:26

No rude comments please just seeing if anyone has any tips

DD is 7mo in a few days with very fine hair, DS had the hair she has at like 3 months old!

She looks very feminine but it’s just sparse her hair so wondering if there’s any way to help it thicken/grow?

No. They will grow when the time is right , don’t be silly.

RedRobyn2021 · 16/08/2024 19:32

Time

My daughter didn't have much hair and it's grown so slowly

There isn't anything you can do just love her the way she is and don't start off on the wrong foot by giving her a complex about the way she looks

AnneLovesGilbert · 16/08/2024 19:33

Are you serious? It’s hair, it’ll do its thing in its own time.

Are you okay? I’m not being snarky, are you?

My daughter was the same.

Shes 8 now and has the longest, thickest, most beautiful hair. It will grow, don’t worry.

MillshakePickle · 16/08/2024 19:46

Guessing baby is blonde or a red head. They tend to get their a little later on, but overall they usually (not always) tend to have thick hair. Give it a few more months and just add one of those headband bows for extra added cuteness.

Ignore those who are being rude to you. I get it, it's a genuine worry.

Ds is now over one and fair and didn't have any hair to speak of until he was around 11 months.

Exactly. DD was bald until she was 14 months when her curls suddenly came in.

I am so jealoous of her thick wavy hair, I have thin straight hair. She definitely skipped my hair genes.

Singleandproud · 16/08/2024 19:48

DD literally had a red mohican until she was 18 months, by the time she was two she'd grown a huge mass of red ringlets.

It's a non-issue, and baby doesn't care in the nicest way find something else to worry about or relax.

There is no way of making a babies hair thicken or grow.

You will need to examine why you care about your wonderful baby's hair and why you have expectations of a baby demonstrating gender stereotypes of femininity.

DaisyChain505 · 16/08/2024 19:54

She’s a baby who I assume is happy and healthy.

Stop focusing on her looks.

her hair will grow in time.

AcceptanceElephant · 16/08/2024 19:54

My ds just turned 2 this week, he still only has a tiny thin layer of golden straight blonde baby hair (with one tiny long curl at the nape of his neck)

I don’t think there is anything you can do to encourage it to grow, but it will happen eventually!

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 16/08/2024 19:56

My cousins were all big headed and bald until 2 years old. They all turned into the most beautiful children and adults.

bunnyear · 16/08/2024 19:56

Thanks to the understanding comments. It was a family member who was purposely rude as another family member called him out instantly and said how feminine she looks and not like a boy.

again doesn’t matter how she looks the comment just annoyed me and I sound silly I don’t want her getting to school and people mentioning it etc. kids can be mean

shes got light brown hair? But DH has thick hair - our eldest hair is thick. I have thin hair which I think DD has as she has strands everywhere of light brown but it is thinner. DS didn’t have a mop at this age it just seemed like more tufts but that could be thickness

What kind of recommendations do you want? Supplements? Plastic surgery procedures? She's a BABY. Just wait a few months.

She's 7 months old.

She will have a full head of hair long before school.

Just take a breath and try to realise how ridiculous that relative was being.

SummaLuvin · 16/08/2024 20:03

this is way too much. I getting trying to put a family member being intentionally rude in their place, but really, a 7 month old baby won't look distinctly feminine or masculine, they will look like a baby. Hence the proliferation of those ghastly pink, frilly, massive bows people insist on putting on baby girls heads, to avoid the horror of someone mistaking their little girl for a boy.

AmeliaEarhart · 16/08/2024 20:04

My first was bald until about 18 months and my second was born with a full mop of hair. When second started eating solids I had to fully wash her hair every night to get all the food out, whereas my first I could just wipe down with a damp cloth after meals. So there is a silver lining…

LostMySocks · 16/08/2024 20:16

DN had no hair til she was 3. It's now long and blond and complied with 10 year old fashion.
I think baby hair is super cute and super easy. No fights to brush out knots.

RosesAndHellebores · 16/08/2024 20:22

DD was born bald. At one she had short, blonde, fine hair. It grew and thickened up. She has very thick, not dead straight blonde hair. At 12 it reached her bottom. She had it cut off and donated it to the Princess Trust.

At 26 it's marvellous hair. I was born with hair. It turned wild rodent. It is very fine.

fruitbrewhaha · 16/08/2024 20:25

Extensions? Or maybe a wig? Or you could draw some hair on?

reallifeboogie · 16/08/2024 20:29

Buy her a wig.

Concentrate on telling your relative how rude and stupid they are.

Dd1 had thick, luscious dark curls when she was born. Then after a couple of months it all fell out apart from a completely mental curly mohawk. By one she had hair all over her head again and ever since has had hair so thick it eats hair brushes. It is hard not to worry, especially when people you know are just rude, but she will grow hair Smile

WickieRoy · 16/08/2024 20:32

Did you post this before? I could swear I read the same thing down to the family member a couple of months ago. If that was you, it's gotten under your skin to an unreasonable extent, and it might be worth thinking about why that is.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 16/08/2024 20:35

reallifeboogie · 16/08/2024 20:29

Buy her a wig.

I don’t mean to laugh but OP - please read your post back and see how ridiculous you’re being. Ignore rude relative and enjoy your beautiful baby - don’t worry about her hair. Some babies just don’t get proper hair until they’re toddlers.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 16/08/2024 20:37

My dd1 was virtually bald until she was at least 8 months. Then her lovely blonde hair started to appear. Just give it time OP.

Your child is 7months old and you're worrying about when she goes to school... in like, 4 years time???? What recommendations were you looking for exactly? Some sort of cream or food supplements? Bizarre.
