High protein on a veggie diet

DH is recovering from an OP. He is going to need some more over the coming months. His BMI was within the lower side of the healthy range but he lost 5 kg in less than 2 weeks at the start of his illness.

Consultant says he needs a high protein diet but he is veggie. He is on lot of pain meds and can use crutches inside the house but isn’t allowed out so is worried about lots of eggs adding to constipation. He does eat fish. Normally he doesn’t have enough protein and has lots of carbs. He does eat fish.

Does anyone please have any food suggestions. Ideally ones with low effort/time as it the school holidays and we have young children and DH isn’t able to do what he normally does at home.

I could google but I have lots going on at the moment.

Sorry but he is not vegetarian he is pescatarian.
Not meaning to derail but I get fed up of people asking or presuming vegetarians eat fish. We don’t.

It also completely changes the issue.

Dude can have seafood in every meal if he wants protein. Why the fuss about too many eggs?

@SwankyPants I’m sorry that was rude of me.

No problem, that's ok. It wasn't helpful you are right. It's just frustrating when you are vegetarian to find that you get served fish by people who think it's part of your diet.

Spirulina is really high in protein
Warburtons do a seeded bread which about 8g a slice
Lots of nice vegan shakes about and the myprotein clear whey is really good.

Greek yogurt has 10g per 100g
2 tbsp peanut butter has 8g
2 tbsp chia seeds has 5g
Beans have about 8g per 100g (cooked)
Edamame are higher at nearly 20g

A cod fillet with a seeded crumb (dip fillet in egg for crumbing) with butter bean mash and peas would give a good whack of protein.
Curries with chickpeas or paneer and ground almonds stirred through the sauce.
A tofu stir fry with egg noodles and peanut butter sauce.

He's not vegetarian if he eats fish, ffs!

I’m a pescatarian and aim to eat at least 150g protein a day. These pouches from Aldi cost 89p, and have 25g of protein for approx 150 cals (depending on flavour).

Will your DH eat mussels or prawns?
