How much would you pay not to have to work today?

I’d pay up to £100 to have the day off today

today is my non working day so I’m good…..but I wouldn’t pay anything to take a day off…..I would take annual leave or if I felt a bit shit one day ( but not sick) I would just suck it up

Immemorialelms · 15/08/2024 07:39

Well technically the answer is always "slightly less than whatever my take home day rate would work out to".

That’s where I’m at, a bit shot but not sick. I’m sucking it up but if I could throw £100 at it and stay in bed, I would

I think that the parents would have something to say about it if I didn't bother turning up today or next Wednesday and Thursday.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 15/08/2024 07:41

£150

Had a horrendous day yesterday and I either have a cold or covid but no tests at home so got to go in to get a test (healthcare so need to know)

Is it wrong to hope for covid?😳 It would mean I could wfh at least.

Newmum738 · 15/08/2024 07:43

I've basically gone in a personal strike today so not working will take either sick or compassionate and they will pay me!

Chrispackhamspoodle · 15/08/2024 07:45

£200.2 more days til AL and I've lost all motivation.

swapcicles · 15/08/2024 08:34

Well I gave my weeks notice in on Sunday but by the end of Monday I'd had enough and quit with immediate effect, I just couldn't stay anymore, not sure of the financial implications yet but maximum I have lost 4 days pay. My mental health was more important.
I do have a new job starting on Sunday though so wasn't too reckless!

I don't work Thursday and Friday so nothing

olderbutwiser · 15/08/2024 08:42

I don’t ever have to go to work again if I don’t want to (but I did diligently go to work every day for a lot of years to earn that).

keep paying into the pension if you can mumsnetters.

My day yesterday was awful too. Does your work accumulate if you don’t go in?

Yes, no one does my work when I’m not there and my team fall apart as well so I go back to carnage after time off.

I’m actually leaving, like a pp said, mental health comes first and I’ve been heading for a complete breakdown. Still have 9 weeks notice period left though🤪 Nothing lined up yet but an interview coming up.

Anyway, apparently wishes do come true, I’ve got Covid and I’m working from my sofa😫

I hope your day isn’t too awful @Eggnogg90

TheSparkling · 15/08/2024 12:44

Nope - after spending 3 days shifting boxes and furniture in my last ever house move I am sitting on my office chair and not moving until 5pm.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/08/2024 12:47

Nothing today, it's raining.

My company lets us buy up to 2 weeks extra holiday a year, which I do (DH is retired and wants to travel more) so ...however much I'm charged for that.
