Hermes are lying

Just need to vent as I can't stand large corporations that get away with just lying.
I ordered from Amazon and they sent the item via Hermes. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday.
However, it was not delivered and I got an email stating there was a problem at the attempted delivery at 6:30pm and they will try again today. On my Amazon account it was written that a delivery was attempted at 6:30 pm but unsuccessful as my driveway and doorway are inaccessible.
What a load of bollocks. I was sat eating in the lounge at that time with a full view of my driveway. We have a ring doorbell. My food delivery guy managed to park on my driveway an hour later and deliver my groceries to my door. Imagine that!
It has really pissed me off that they are so blatantly lying. The item still hasn't arrived today so will be interested to see what excuse they come up with this time.

If anyone has had this before and had a good outcome please let me know. Would love to complain but I feel it will be useless as they won't give a shiny shit.

Ps I won't be arsey with the driver if they actually turn up as I appreciate it probably wasn't them.

Hasn't Hermes now rebranded to Evri?

Unfortunately it still seems to mean that there is Evri chance you won't get your parcel as far as I can see.

During COVID lockdowns M & S began using them (still Hermes then I think) and they lost a couple of parcels of new bedding that I ordered, which weren't cheap. M & S did resend at no extra charge via a different courier (DPD) and I did get it all then.

These days I am still seeing complaints about them on our local FB pages - parcels not delivered, delivered to wrong addresses and nobody knows where they are etc.

Good luck. They're crap. Call Amazon to get it resent if needed.

Thanks for your replies. I know it's petty of me but just say you couldn't deliver today so will try tomorrow.
I don't think it was the wrong address as we've never had problems before, but who knows. No photo included.
The email is definitely from Hermes but I also thought they had been bought out. I'm sure Amazon will sort it. I wish they would stick with their couriers as they've been brilliant.

They do this all the time if they can't get all the parcels delivered on time. It's much easier to blame an inaccessible driveway than admitting there's a delay in delivering the parcel- I think it may have to do with the fact they don't get paid if it's not delivered on time or they could ask for a refund of the delivery fee?

Hermes/Evri will do this - so the driver gets paid for attempted delivery. It's normal for us to get either 'attempted delivery' OR it's been 'delivered' with some random photo of nothing , and, being rural, away from town, we then get the delivery if/when they've others in the same area, perhaps up to a week later. Annoying but not much we can do about it..

I think the reason Hermes rebranded is because they have such a bad reputation, they are liars.
