Serious neighbour issue

im not sure if I’m putting this in the correct place. I need some advice- twice now my neighbour has reported me for neglect and once my other neighbour.

I live in a flat which looks onto a car park and grassy area. The neighbour lives across the way also looking onto the car park although it’s not actually part of her building and is for our end.

she used to shout at any neighbour children when they were out playing then one day police came to my door to say they’d had a report using my car registration to say the children are left alone outside from school ending to 9 or later- completely untrue, they’re not even home every night and are never not monitored.

I spoke to the police following this to say I felt it was harrasment and they spoke to her however since then she’s done the same thing to a neighbour and again today the police were at my door.

the police aren’t concerned as my children clearly aren’t neglected however I’m concerned and worried about what to do next.

I don’t know if I need to speak to their school as this might flag up.
I have tried the housing (I own my home but they are the factor and she is a tenant) but they’ve said they can’t do anything.
I’ve already reported for harrasment.

im concerned this will cause me issues as a family- does anyone have any advice?

Just to add the children aren’t out every day, maybe a few times a week at most and over this summer they’ve been out to play twice as we’ve had plans. They aren’t noisy and I have videos to prove this as that was her main complaint.

Why do you need to do anything? You said yourself, the police aren't concerned. Just forget about it.

She’s obviously a troublemaker so draw a line underneath this now and don’t take any notice of her

I feel like there's only so many times it will be reported before the police have to flag it up with school/social work etc so I want to be on the front foot with that really.

It's very upsetting.

The police know the difference between a report of genuinely neglected children and a nonsense report. Even if a report is made several times, if there’s no neglect, there won’t be any consequences. The police are duty bound to investigate each report, so you may get visits from them, but they will be marked as ‘no action required’.

Police and child protection are well used to people with a grudge against someone and using the child protection procedures as a kind of weapon. It’s upsetting and disruptive but, as long as your children are well looked-after, nothing will happen.

For these type of reports, the police will let the complainer know that there is no concern. Further complaints from the same person will lead to the police having a word with them.

Yes, it’s upsetting and a waste of everyone’s time but you can hold your head high. After all, your child care has been examined and found to be satisfactory so you don’t have to make any changes.

The neighbour will soon realise that malicious complaints result in HER getting a telling off and she’ll stop. Sorry this is happening but you’ve nothing at all to worry about and don’t need to tell the school. Just continue to look after your children as you’re currently doing.

This happened ro a friend of mine and the neighbour got a warning for wasting police time. They were told they would be charged if it kept happening

So what if they are playing out til 9 in a private car park and grassy area in the summer. We used to do this as kids with all the neighbour’s children. It was a safe space for us to be in as everyone knew we were there, we were together and parents could keep an eye on us. I don’t think you should give it another thought.

Keep reporting her when she does this ,the police do take harassment seriously but it has to be documented
