I don't know if I have new job nerves or overthinking but after having 5 years of not working (had baby )
I'm returning to work
I start Monday
I'm working Monday -Tuesday-Wednesday 7am till 3pm
Off Thursday/Friday /Saturday
In Sunday 7-3pm
It's a 13 min drive (partner drops me off )
So I will be leaving the house around 6.40am
That means 6am alarm
I'm just worrying it's a really early start
And am i gonna manage

I'm at my desk for 7am. I work 7-4. You get used to the 5.30 starts

I start at 7 (through choice) if I'm in the office I leave at 3 and finish off at home, hybrid working.
My alarm is set for 5:20, it gives me a chance to wake up, have a coffee in peace, shower etc.
You'll get used to it quickly and finishing at 3 (for you) gives you more time at the back end of the day.

Earliest I start is 4am and it's hard sometimes but you soon get used to it. I'd rather that than work a 9-5 because I'm not stuck in traffic so my working day is shorter, on the rare occasion I've started at 9 it takes me nearly an hour each way.

I couldn't do it as I struggle in the morning but both my mum and brother start at six and walk 20 mins to work, they like it in summer as they have the afternoon to enjoy themselves.

You work 7 days a week?

My boss works 7-3
Her partner works 10-6
They maximise home time with their baby

I went from a 09:00 start (alarm at 07:30) to a 07:30 start (alarm at 06:00) and adapted to it quite quickly. I'm not a morning person and hate early starts/like staying up late, but actually skipping the traffic and finishing earlier has been much better.

The first few weeks were a bit tiring but I would say I'd adapted by 6 weeks. The hardest part is winter as you're starting work in complete darkness and don't see daylight until you're over an hour into your working day..

Yeah would have to bring child with us
He is a early riser anyway so don't think it will be a issue tbh
I will be working 4 days or sometimes 5 a week
So either 2 or 3 days off a week

What time do you think most people start work?

It's a normal time - enjoy you new job!

I get up at 5.45 and walk dog then get. Shower and ready and start work at 7.45

I think 9-5 days is outmoded.
