Found someone's personal belongings but can't get hold of them

I've found the person on FB but I think my messages are going to 'other folder' and not them.
I've tried messaging a few of their contacts too with no response
And one of the items was a bank card so I transfered them a penny with a message that I've found their card and another penny with my phone number but no contact.

There is an address in the items but I don't know if they still live there (as the address is on a card issued 8 years ago) and I'd have to walk there and it's quite a trek.

Any more ideas?

Have you friends requested them on FB as well as messaging OP? They're more likely to notice a FR than a message that's gone to the 'other messages' box.

StarShineHello · 12/08/2024 09:50

I don't think the police will help, I found a phone last year and thy said they couldn't take it and to try FB etc

I've put post up in local group but had no response.

It was in a large park so not like I could hand it into customer service etc of they went back looking.

Ill try a few more FB contacts.

Just hand them in at the police station. Send a note by post to the address saying where they are.

Police don't accept lost property any more unless it's something with personal information on like a laptop.

Agapornis · 12/08/2024 10:25

Post a letter to the address? You've done all you can. I've sent Facebook messages to randoms before for their lost property, usually they message me back months later.

They won't give me any information and I doubt I could ask them to 'pass a message on'

It's 5 quite important items.

The bank will pass on a message. I've found wallets and phoned the bank in the past.

LIZS · 12/08/2024 10:33

Take them to police station or drop into the relevant bank.

The police won't take them and the nearest bank is miles away

Is it just bank cards?

They will have cancelled them so no use returning them.

If theres other stuff go on Facebook and find their local community page and post a photo saying you found it. There is like a dozen found phones, bank cards, drivers licenses, purses etc... posted to ours daily and usually identified (by friends, family, coworkers, neighbors) and the owner contacted within 10-15 minutes.

I've already done that with no response.
Not it's driver's license and store cards too.

I found someone’s bank cards I just phoned their bank and cancelled them. Then put on a local group that I had found a card said the bank not the name and that they were cancelled.

EasilyDisturbed · 12/08/2024 11:09

Write a letter to their address. Or go into the nearest store they have a storecard for and ask them to leave a message. Or phone customer services at one of the stores.

I lost a bag on holiday, someone found it and contacted the National Trust because my membership card was in there, NT emailed me and put me in touch so I could send money to cover postage and got it all back again.

Then I’d just drive to their place and hand it in.

My ds lost his wallet like this, with his driving licence. The staff at the shop where he lost it brought it. He/we were forever grateful.

StarShineHello · 12/08/2024 11:59

Just knocked on. No answer

I didn't want to post them through because the licence was issued over 6 years ago so I don't know they're there.

Put a note through door.
