Sudocrem.

AnneLovesGilbert · 11/08/2024 22:55

Anthisan.

johann12 · 11/08/2024 22:56

Make sure you clean them well with soap or disinfectant. Canesten athlete's foot cream has hydrocortisone in I think, that should help

Antihistamine tablet

Danikm151 · 11/08/2024 22:56

Another vote for anthisan!

brusselsprout5 · 11/08/2024 22:57

Do you have any antihistamine tablets? Take those. Anthisan cream is good too. There's a spray we use, midges love my oldest DS, but can't remember the name.

GenerousGardener · 11/08/2024 22:57

Vicks vapour rub or Tiger Balm

Pascha · 11/08/2024 22:57

Any cream with Hydrocortisone in it, and an antihistamine tablet if you have any.

Meadowwild · 11/08/2024 22:58

Anthisan and an antihistamine tablet.

Or calamine aqueous cream (not calamine lotion. When it dries it gets even itchier!)

Mykittensmittens · 11/08/2024 23:00

A very very hot teaspoon (google it - it works).

or ‘after bite‘ stinky pen.

parietal · 11/08/2024 23:04

anthisan and piriton both have a fast-acting antihistamine and are very effective.

the hot teaspoon trick really does work too but be careful not to burn yourself.

Moonshiners · 11/08/2024 23:05

Hot spooooooonnnn. It's amazing.
Hydrocortisone cream.

timetorefresh · 11/08/2024 23:10

Thanks all. I shall go try a hot spoon and go cream shopping in the morning

Tiny dab of minty toothpaste works!

Globetrote · 11/08/2024 23:15

Dab with brown vinegar a few times while you wait to get to a pharmacy - it reduces the itch.

HelpMebeok · 11/08/2024 23:16

The hot spoon works great.

I got some Moskinto bites plasters from Amazon and they worked a treat.

DramaAlpaca · 11/08/2024 23:17

Any or all of the above will help.

But my best trick for taking the itch out of insect bites is to blast them with a hairdryer, as hot as you can bear for a couple of seconds.

You'll get immediate relief and about twelve hours itch free.

Anthesan cream for instant relief. Combined with an antihistamine tablet to take the general reaction down a bit.

NailsHairNipsHeels · 11/08/2024 23:25

If you don't have cream either a hot hot spoon (as hot as you can handle it) it jag a cross into it with your nail. It's hurts a bit but it takes the itch out. I have no idea if the science behind it but it works

EconomyClassRockstar · 11/08/2024 23:26

Does nowhere just sell OFF or similar in the UK?! Like a Tide pen but for insect bites?!

ToplessWordle · 11/08/2024 23:28

I've been treating my mozzie bites with a flannel wrung out in very hot water (a variation of the hot spoon/hair dryer trick that I came across on MN last week. It really works! I find that I get about 20 hours relief before the itch returns.
