Ideas for a gardening gift basket?

Think I've got the basics sorted but was wondering what people would like if they were going to receive one

I'm always losing my secateurs and I go through cheap gardening gloves quickly so those. Also can you ever have enough trowels so they can be left in various places in the garden?!

Is it someone who already gardens a lot, or someone new to gardening?

Secateurs, gloves, trowel, some miracle grow, slug pellets. Maybe some daffodil bulbs to plant in the autumn.

Knee pad, garden gnome.

Felco secateurs. Soap, nail brush and hand cream.

Brightly coloured (so easier to find) secateurs, gloves, twine, pruning knife, daisy grubber, seaweed feed, compost treat.

Some nice slate plant labels.

Felcos are hand size dependant so I'd avoid that.

OP are they new or experienced?

Personally as an experienced gardener I want compost, and a decent one at that. I prefer to choose my own tools, gloves, secateurs etc.

If in doubt a Hori Hori knife suits most people.

Wooden nail brush for me, I always need to scrub my nails after gardening.

I think you need to know if they're organic gardeners first, I never use slug pellets for example.

Always need more plant labels - and I like to keep my garden plastic free so non-plastic ones are always happily received.

Seeds, an eco /organic product they might not have tried. Seedling trowel set. Dibber. Gardening planner. Twine. Sowing measure. Newspaper plant pot maker. Leaf mould sack.

Agree that new vs experienced garden basket would be different.

experienced gardener/fairly organic/nature friendly: nice twine: twool.co.uk; wool pots, shell-on-earth (ground shells - good for repelling slugs), reusable
plant labels, maybe some unusual
seeds but only if you know what you’re doing ;-) , perhaps a soil blocker, snips or secateurs. I have opinions about gloves so easy to get it wrong …

new gardener: gloves, a trowel, still wool plant pots/reusable plant labels, voucher for a good garden centre or seed supplier, secateurs or snips, perhaps a dinner or seed spacer tool

Dont bother?

Experienced gardener will have have everything that they need (bitter based on being given 10 plus pairs of secateurs across the years and 1 pair lasts a lifetime)

Twine is another good shout for experienced gardeners. You can never have enough.

Ahh, now, I disagree @ReclaimedHouse : I loose/trash secateurs regularly! I agree it’s harder to get right but I’d focus on ‘consumables’

A nice seed box you can get lovely personalised ones

And a nice basket to put all your flower or veggies in.

This. I go through it so fast. I love packets of seeds. Sweet peas, nigella, cornflowers- anything you can sow directly into the ground.

knee pad is a great idea. A roll of copper tape. A lovely glazed plant pot

@ReclaimedHouse she has a yarden rather than garden.
She is out there everyday, tending to her pots and things.
I was just going to do her a gift hamper to thank her for being a lovely neighbour.
