How much to charge for French tuition?

I am thinking of starting a small side hustle giving French lessons (I am a native speaker with dual nationality).

I was thinking of doing this for people who want to practice their conversation skills or for more advanced levels on a one to one basis or for groups at local community centres.

Is anyone doing similar or paying for lessons? I wonder how much to charge.

I am based in the SE of England, although of course I could also provide this online.

Any additional ideas of how I could use my language skills to make some extra cash would be most welcome!

I can recommend Language for Fun as a franchise to join. There are lots of native speakers who do it. We charge between £14 and £17 for small group classes. I personally find it easier and more lucrative than when I do one to one teaching, when I charge around £35-£40 an hour.

If you are an experienced teacher then 60 pounds for 60 minutes would be reasonable.

Depends where you are. If you aren't teaching GCSE (although my French friend would chat with DS before his French exams to help him practice) then London maybe £20 an hour?

For gcse or A level then you could be looking at £90+ an hour (obv if you have a track record of results etc).

Bon chance!

£90+ is crazy! A full day of supply teaching wouldn't be much more so for one hour that's nuts.

@Loveandhatred I know a (London) tutor who charges almost double that for languages! Oxbridge grad, tutors kids in fancy private schools...
