I’ve only just done it so still in a lot of pain but I’m struggling to get my head round not being mobile for the next 12 weeks.

DDs are home from uni and being really helpful but they will be going back next month (at which point I’m hoping to be in less pain) and perhaps that’s when the boredom will kick in, as well as Empty Nest.

Yes I have Netflix! And books. And lovely friends who say they will pop in. But I need to find a new hobby. So far people have suggested knitting and sewing but I’ve never done anything like that. Are there any armchair type exercises I could do (back in the day when DDs were little we had a Wii!).

Just looking for inspiration really!

I hear you. I’m 4 weeks into 3 months of NWB and it is hard.

I am reading and have been watching the Olympics a lot. My brain has been a bit mush (painkillers and general distraction) so I haven’t really got into much more than Clarkson’s Farm and Emily in Paris, but hopefully I can pick up the focus.

I have now hired a wheelchair though got out for the first time today and it made a massive difference my mood.

I need something to do with my hands though - I usually listen to a lot of podcasts but have been struggling to focus just lying down and listening (and often falling asleep!) so I’m going get a tapestry kit or something.

I also intending to do some redecoration research/ planninh whilst I have the time, but haven’t got around to that yet.

I have an upcoming op where I'll be on very light duties (although thankfully mobile) for about 6 weeks and I'm planning to make all the photo books I've been planning since the kids were small.

Crochet. Order a kit off Amazon and there are literally thousands of tutorials on YouTube

My friend was in a similar position and used the opportunity to do as much life admin as possible to free up more time once she was recovered. E.g. ordering all greetings cards for the next year plus gifts where possible. Writing the Christmas shopping list. Researching and planning future holidays. Coming up with new meals plans and writing accompanying shopping lists. Researching future purchases. Writing lists of outstanding DIY and getting someone in to do it. Planning decor for rooms that need updating etc. Writing the Christmas cards. She said it was fabulous, kept her entertained and meant the following year was a lot easier.

Weighted belt to keep you upright and exercises to do in any warm pool.

Life saver. The pressure of water alongside the movement really helps the recovery.
