Just this really. I have a PT, run, go to the gym 3 times a week. i can’t crack the code or weight loss. I’m now interested in ozempic or something similar. But how do you start? Do you need to see a GP?

If you go online to Boots, you can access their doctors to get what you need - they are qualified, very good and professional and should be able to prescribe it for you.

There are a few online pharmacies these days, which are legal and above board.

Have a look on the weigghtloss threads, there's a section for injectables.

I'd recommend Morunjaro over Ozempic, as it has less side effects and is more effective.

Good luck!

What weight are you now though?

OP, just remember most weight loss is diet related. If you’re not taking care of that you can run marathons and not lose a pound.

Just to add, whenever I want to lose weight I do diet alone - not exercise. I always lose weight. Exercise will tone you up and make you fitter.

Waitingforseptembernow · 11/08/2024 11:10

How much is it?

newpussmum · 11/08/2024 12:48

Read the side effects.

Then really consider if it's worth it.

The side effects for me have been reversal of T2 diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure in normal range, removal of food noise and loss of 3.5 stone putting me in a healthy weight range. If you mean negative side effects, then other than feeling a bit cold with initial doses, and a bit tired the day after each jab - then none.

OP - if you have a lot of weight to lose then I would 100% recommend trying the injections. It's not for anyone who just needs to shift a few pounds, but if you have a bmi over 30 (over 27 if you have a weight related health issue) then you can do the assessment online from all major chemists. I spoke to my GP before starting and they were extremely encouraging and said that if they could prescribe on NHS, they would and if I could afford it to go for it. They have supported with 3 monthly blood tests to check progress and are delighted with the results. Good luck whatever you decide!

I concur, mounjaro has absolutely changed my life and I'm so grateful we have this opportunity to do something about weight loss. I've struggled for 10 years with my weight, reached an obese BMI of 32 and decided enough was enough.
Lots of people think it's risky, well no more risky than being obese, Im the healthiest I've felt since before having kids, have mountains of energy and nothing hurts anymore (I've lost 2.5 stone and have 1.5 to go).

CeruleanDive · 11/08/2024 14:26

A lot of your questions will be answered on the first post here (unless you definitely want ozempic not Mounjaro):

Can I ask what blood tests you are having, @toomanyshoes?

Sure. I have my HBA1c checked (shows blood sugar levels over the last 3 months) and my cholesterol. All are now in normal range and I'll have another test in 3 months to make sure that they are staying that way. If so, I'll probably just have an annual check after that.

My mother is on Mounjaro
She was obese and suffered from high blood pressure. I was so worried about her weight that I offered to pay for the medication
She has been on Mounjaro for a few months and has lost four stone with two stone left to lose
My siblings and I are are grateful that this medication has extended my mother’s life

@Iamnotarobot123

@Waitingforseptembernow For boots it starts at about £200 per month and when you get to the "1.7" dose it goes up and again I think on the full dose. In my view it's worth it - you just are not interested in food!

If I recall there is a "statistic" that to lose 2 pounds by exercise you will need to run a marathon [unlikely for some of us?]
