Riots - school holidays

It's the summer holidays and I'm a muslim who wears a hijab. (Headcovering).
Iv had to cancel a trip already due to the riots across the UK.
Kids were really looking forward to it. I have one child with SEN and emotional disregulation so explaining to him why we can't go was dificult as it caused a meltdown.
Normally we travel around the u.k and love to do coastal walks, staycations, hikes, biking and enjoy nature as that suits my child.

This year my husband is very apprehensive about going or booking anything so iv decided on going to Wales as I havnt heard of any rioting.
Is anyone from Wales and could tell me if the situation is OK? Are people friendly towards muslims...I'm very worried now and never felt like this before.
I would travel to areas where I was the only Muslim for miles and it never bothered me. People are generally friendly.
I am thinking of taking them to tenby and taking the boat to the island and doing some walks to see nature reserves in Wales.
How is Cardiff?
Do you think I should keep safe stay home and do nothing with the kids ( difficult with sen child) or should I go and just be cautious?

I'm really sorry that this is happening and that you are having to change your plans. I’m in Cornwall and so far we have had nothing. There’s a rumour that something is planned for Penzance but that’s far down west. I would have thought that North Cornwall (Bude etc) is pretty safe.

I’m so so sorry that you are having to even second guess your summer holiday plans. You should absolutely feel comfortable anywhere, and not have to worry about the behaviour of these insecure losers rioting.

I would imagine that rural areas will generally be okay. I live on the Devon/Cornwall border, so spend a lot of time in both counties. There has been a little unrest in the cities, but not in rural areas.I was in Bude last weekend on the beach and it was a very diverse crowd, including women in hijabs and modesty swimsuits.

I think any National Trust property would be a safe day out, as they are quite progressive and have security. Do you have a membership? Might be worth joining. I think ours is £12 a month for a family of 4.

Hi

I totally know how you feel @Avocadotoast8 as we are in the same predicament!

We've been stuck indoors with the kids since last week and have not ventured out anywhere like we normally would do.

I really want to book a short break, but I am apprehensive as my husband also is not confident about going away due to the current situation 😕.

I am tempted to, and have been looking into going to N.Wales, we went last year and the kids absolutely loved it. However, I just cannot find the confidence to book something.

Have you managed to book something yet or are you holding tight?

This has been the most disheartening and hardest summer break 😪.

I'm in South Wales. There was a rumour there might be 'demonstrations' in Cardiff, Swansea and possibly Newport last Saturday but as far as I could find out, no far right folks gathered or rioted, there were just some peaceful counter protestors in the area in case.

Certainly haven't seen or experienced anything. I'd come to Wales, but I can honestly imagine it's just as risky as going anywhere right now, and even to stay where you are. I'm so sorry this shit happens. You belong here just as much as the wankers causing the problems. More so, in my book.

OP I am so sorry that this awful situation is affecting your family holiday, the whole situation is terrifying and bonkers in equal measure.

I suspect/hope that things are calming down now but I can understand your anxiety. I think going somewhere rural but with a massive influx of middle class people is probably a very safe bet so on my list would be Lyme Regis in Dorset, Dartmouth in Devon, Tenby, as you have suggested and Southwold in Suffolk.

I hope you have a great holiday.

Try the Isle of Man - no riots, no protests, lots of friendly people, great walks, lovely beaches.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your helpful suggestions and lovely replies.
So just an update I persuaded husband to venture out and we decided on wales as the situation in England is more unsettled.
We had a great time and glad we didn't stay home.
The Welsh are very friendly and everyone was great with our kids too.
We visited some beaches in the North and went on trecks to some waterfalls and nature reserves.
We plan to visit again, this time to visit the south of Wales.
